Khan was 160 against Devon and was lightening fast in that fight.

Speed won't be the issue unless he balloons to 175+, Khan is blessed with great speed no one can take that away from him.

When news first broke that Canelo Alvarez will be defending his middleweight title against former world champion Amir Khan, many assumed that there might be trouble brewing between Khan and his influential advisor Al Haymon. After all, Golden Boy Promotions is currently suing Al Haymon, so the idea of them negotiating a fight of this magnitude seemed unthinkable. And after select members of the media made it a point to state that "Haymon had noting to do with" the deal, a press release from Golden Boy Promotions only added more fuel to the speculation when it stated, "Golden Boy Promotions will exclusively promote the fight, with Khan returning to his former home at Golden Boy Promotions for the showdown." Contrary to those reports, however, a source close to the information has informed us that Amir Khan is still signed with Haymon and there is no long-term deal in the works with Golden Boy Promotions.

"There's no long-term deal. It's one fight and a rematch clause, that's it," our source tells us. Khan himself also confirmed his allegiance to Haymon shortly after the fight announcement when he thanked him in a tweet that read, "Wow! Incredible response and fantastic support, thank you everyone, couldn't have done it without my team and Al Haymon." In fact, it is our understanding that Haymon was very much involved in finalizing the deal. Although he did not speak directly with any representatives of Golden Boy Promotions, we're told that Haymon worked directly with representatives of Team Khan, who in turn relayed information to him as negotiations were taking place. To make a long story short, if you thought that Amir Khan was no longer working with Al Haymon, or that Al Haymon would not make a fight with Golden Boy Promotions, think again. On the contrary, Haymon has once again done what he's always done; secured the biggest and best possible deal for his fighter despite any animosity directed towards him. As the saying goes, if it makes dollars, it makes sense.

this is for sure the most interesting aspect of all of this is how much weigh khan can effectively put on. the weight very well could help his chin and be interesting to see if the speed stays with him.

when i first heard this fight i thought no way thats ridiculous is this a joke but now its starting to grow on me

As Khan says he's always put himself in fights where he's been favourite , this is the first fight he's fought as an underdog. As one previous post mentions this is one weight up +1lb .This fight is at a catchweight 154lbs.
Imagine Khan fights a peak Marvin Hagler at the FULL middleweight , lets not.
These are facts and there is a lot that say it's a mismatch, maybe but Khan is only fighting at 8lbs heavier than usual and if this doesn't affect his raiding speed tactics maybe Khan can make this interesting until around the mid way mark as Canelo is not fast on his feet.
I want to see if Khan can turn this , what most people consider a mismatch in to something he says he can do or is Amir Khan all mouth as many think ?

One thing that stands out right now is that Canelo doesn't have the greatest footwork, King does, he will have to fight a near perfect fight doe.
If Khan has such perfect footwork then how come he falls on his a$$ so much?

Therefore, I wish him all the best in his endeavor to make history.
Hey great point, everyone likes to root for an underdog anyway. And with the heat Ginger's getting for selecting Khan, by fight night no one will be rooting for Canelo.

I'll root for Amir just to see him overcome the odds.

He's getting paid handsomely that's the only factor at play here...weight, his chances of winning, who the judges are..don't matter. He was after a check and he got it.

Khan is talking for the sake of talking

Hunter and his strength coach will decide what weight is best for Khan

IMO Khan will come in light
