Alvarez-Khan coming to fruition is also a surprise because the Brit is advised by Al Haymon and fights under the Premier Boxing Champions banner. De La Hoya’s Golden Boy Promotions is currently suing Haymon, who reached a settlement last year to take many of his fighters away from the company.

Said Tim Smith, Vice President of Communications for Haymon Boxing: “Al was involved in the process all the way through with Khan’s people. Why would he have a problem giving his blessing? Al’s job as Amir Khan’s manager is to get the best possible deal that he can get. Best opponent he can face, most money he can make.

“Regardless of promotional en****** involved, he made sure that happened. In the past Al has been criticized by many people for not allowing fighters he manages to sign long-term promotional agreements. But in this particular case, you see the wisdom in that because this has allowed Amir Khan to take the best opportunity that’s available.”

I personally don't see Khan getting away from Canelo like Mayweather did, nor move as well as Lara. At 155, will Khan lose that (overly glorified) speed? If so, he will be an easier target to hit, and If Algeri was hitting Khan... Canelo will do so as well, with power behind it.

The most damage will be from the body shots, Khan is a sucker for body shots in that textbook block and he will probably be a bit fleshy at 155.
Canelo also doesnt have a high work rate, which gives Khan time to breath

He wasn't champion at the time of the jump. He had lost to Floyd and Trout and just beat Delvin Rodriguez.

At least Khan is on a 5 fight win streak and ALL of those 5 fighters he beat are better than Delvin Rodgriguez. ALL. OF. THEM.

Is it really much more than the 6 mil pounds (or whatever figure) he could have gotten for Brook?
if he loses to brook- ego crushed
if he loses to canelo- he was so much bigger im still the best at 147

I'm a boxing fan so I like both fighters, but your example is totally different. Cotto was a big welterweight and had been fighting at 154 for some time. Khan was a big 140lber who just moved up to 147lbs and didn't look as good and now is fighting for a 160lb title at 155lbs. It doesn't make sense with all the talent at 154lbs. I understand the money, but as much as I use to like and respect Canelo I'm kind of starting to not respect him as much. But I will say that this could backfire on him. Khan will be no walk in the park. Especially since Canelo likes to box. If he was a bully and pressure fighter it would be different, but trying to box khan could be a bad idea

So pretty much, this leaves GGG out of the picture?

how in the world are you going to fight Khan and then GGG at 160 lol. well lets see what happens in the next hours...some are saying that khan could pull out of the fight, due to a better fight(Kell brook?)
