I'm just intrigued about the match up, Ward is a good puncher and he has more than enough to hurt Kovalev. I don't know where people get this idea that Ward can't punch.

I agree that Ward has underrated power. But he doesn't even need to be able to hurt Kovalev to beat him. Maybe some of these guys must of missed Floyd vs Pacquiao, but it's very possible to beat a puncher without hurting him.

How many guys Ward has floored with the left hook?

At least you can count that easily with kova

I know I shouldn't be making this thread. If Ward or Jay Z read it, and the incoming 75%-25% poll in Kovalev's favour, they will never come out of witness protection.
Can pick the Ward head butt over Kovalev's jab

I voted for Andre. Ward's best punch is his left hook. He is a natural southpaw who fights from the right handed stance. Almost all his knock downs and knockouts come as a result of his left hook. I think Ward's left hook is just a hair harder than Kovalev's left jab. Kovalev's left jab is a much harder punch than any right hand Ward throws.

Kovalev has an undeniable power advantage over Ward, but that only takes a fighter so far. Ward knows how to smother and control distance better than anybody, and he hits hard enough to get respect.

Kovalev should hope that Ward's speed has slipped over the last few years, if it hasn't then Ward has everything he needs to win the fight by UD.

Kovalev can have all the power he wants but skills pay the bills and Wards skills surpasses Kovalevs power. I hope Kovalev is practicing his sign language because he will need it after Ward boxes his ears off

That is a Russian stereotype. Kovalev is not mechanical or robotic at all. In fact, his biggest weakness is that he has balance issues sometimes.
