  • I think GGG slips past Toney. I dont see anyone beating Roy at MW. I will say Golovkin would be the sternest test of Roys prime but Roy just wouldnt be there to be hit. He would pot shot and set down with power when the shot was available. Roy was a physical freak, he was too fast of hand and foot for Golovkin to do any better than to win 3-4 rounds. Also Roy was a monstrous puncher in the early days, he would have gotten Golovkins respect but there wouldnt be a stoppage in either fight in my opinion.

Buuuut, If GGG connected. Well who knows how good Roys chin was back then. I dont think it was that good personally I just think you couldnt hit him flush.

In my opinion, the following won't raise his resume a bit either: Saunders, Lee, Eubank, Jacobs, etc. They are a waste of time, although I wouldn't mind seeing him against Lara or, at minimum, Jacobs. Canelo fight will NEVER happen unless it's on Canelo's terms.

Time to develop a fresh outlook and get out of the rut of fighting useless opponents. Fight Ward, DeGale, the Dirrells, even Kovalev (since he beat him in sparring). He can also go to 154 (as he said he could) and clean that division up.

Othewise, he'll always remain an unproven HBO and media hypejob.
It seems to me his die hard fans and the HBO hype train dont care as long he keeps winning...great for him and them but sucks for the fans

I'd rather he fight Jacobs(they are suppose to rid us of 2 wba belts supposedly) Lara, Canelo and BJS at 160

168 will be when he gets legacy defining fights....Guys like Abraham, Degale, Dirrell who he fought in the ams, and jACK WOULD BE NICE

      • most people who vote for ggg are what they call in the ytbc "fanboys" and they cant be objectionable bc their loyalty to certain fighters is in a way synonymous with ****sexual desire.
golovkin at 34 years old is at the stage where anthony joshua is at golovkin hasnt faced a higher tier opponent in his career erislandy lara would be the best talent and the best name on golovkins resume and lara isnt even a 160er he has talent but until you get in there with a "pick em fight" then his "talent" remains a MYSTERY.
Roy Jones Jr & James Toney are ALL TIME GREAT TALENTS but Roy Jones ESP bc he's the type of fighter who you may only see every 100 YEARS if that. there is NOTHING that ggg can do that roy jones can do better. jones had more power bc he took his power up to diff divisions and actually started off at JUNIOR middleweight his lowest bein' 152 fought at 160, 168 & 175 and skipped over cruiser to go to heavyweight.
there is absolutely NOTHING that ggg has that Roy Jones cant do better on top of that Roy has a 4 inch reach advantage stop it tfoh i think both would stop ggg honestly esp James Toney bc of his slick d and the way he countered off the shoulder roll. James Toney is the best fighter ive laid eyes on that could COUNTER from the Shoulder Roll/Shell he wasnt really bout "slipping" punches he would take them and plant his feet and PIVOT to generate the power in the counter right and the left hook which makes his Shoulder Roll more dangerous to the opposition than a mayweather shoulder roll

        • I dont think Golovkin is a hype job, he is the real deal but he has to get in there with the top guys. Why he hasnt yet doesnt concern me, I just want to see it happen.

I read earlier in the thread that Kovalev was carried out on a stretcher after sparring Golovkin. This hyperbole or is there some meat on that bone?

Monroe landed a 29% of his punches based on compubox... now i don't count these myself so i dont know how accurate that is but that's pretty damn good defense against a slick southpaw with fast hands where you are the aggressor.

if you can just tell me of one guy who can land 49% of his punchs and only get hit by less than 30% against a fast southpaw then please go ahead, i'll wait.

These fantasy matchups are ******, you can't truly compare them. I don't know why everyone is trying to so hard to make a case here.
You talk a lot of sense.....i stated that I think hagler would beat triple GGG and toney and Jones would not school golovkin.....in fact I said would pick golovkin over toney and was not sure about a Jones fight then all of a sudden it became a golovkin he is nothing thread.....I refuse to accept that a boxer who has over 345 amateur wins with numerous titles and has continued to have astounding run as a professional and has barely lost round...who dominates every fighter he faces...whether a slick southpaw or renowned ****er...who is unbeaten and has barely lost a round as champion...and he gets schooled by the old brigade.....a question I need to ask is do you need to be superman to compete with the toneys and Jones of this world........I'm not saying he is the greatest by any means but I think he has earned some kind of respect for the simple fact everybody avoids him and when he has faced him he has simply walked through them

Apparently it happened at big bear where golovkin was training...kovalev was pretty green and not the finished article and was still on the up..I read from Abel Sanchez and there some other sources that quoted it...I think that's why kovalev always talks very highly of golovkin

I don't know about the stretcher bit lol.... Kovalev took a knee after a solar plexus shot from GGG, that's the truth... however since then it has developed into a knockout and Kovalev being carried out on a stretcher apparently.

And James Toney was basically Floyd Mayweather with punching power. Roy would be fear*** of GGG's power. So he'd keep his distance and outpoint him rather easily. As for Toney. We've never seen GGG have to dig deep. So I don't know how he woild react. But Toney would slip and counter the hell outta GGG. And it would basically be up to Gennady how he wants to go out. Keep his distance and get outpointed. Or keeping coming and get stopped. Not hating, those two are just better fighters than GGG.
When James was disciplined, I agree. He was also lazy as hell and only fought to his capability about every second or third fight. So could GGG beat him? Well that depends on which Toney showed up. Against Jones GGG has no chance, well maybe a remote punchers chance. I say 50/50 vs Toney and a 95 percent Jones chance beats him.

No alts, just facts. CANELO has faster hands then Golovkin and Cotto who is faster then GGG couldn't land on CANELO. Cotto moved all night and Canelo still landed on him on the move and when they went toe to toe as well. CANELO has faster hands and faster reflexes from a defensive stand point and Counter punching stand point. CANELO IS FASTER THEN GGG PERIOD, CANELO IS more fluid , while Gennady is slow , methodical and simply robotic. You stated no facts , or broke nothing down , you just had a hate filled rant against me, not gonna cut it you lose, easy work.

Pretty much everybody is faster than GGG. Doesn't seem to help.
