watched merchant be a **** yesterday to mayweather in the first castillo fight. they [HBO crew] also refused to recognize what a great fight it was, and instead focused only on the storyline of the upset.


thought that fight could much more easily scored for castillo than for mayweather, BTW. floyd looked like he didn't give castillo's size enough credit, and that he could have paced himself better early on. he came out absolutely flying, and after no more than a round or two he was getting timed. win or lose, he was a better fighter for it.

I watched the fight live...scored it a draw the first time....7-5 for both guys...this is one of those fights where you really have to know how to score a fight and understand why fights are scored round by round

the fight literally had 3 phases.....JLC is a slow starter, so floyud took the first few round, JLC took the middle, and they showed us how great they are in the last half of the fight. I never score this fight the same back to back the same day.

also the punch stats...people point at those but dont realize if a fighter has a big round it could end up with them landing 30 and the opponent only land 10... thats why fights are scored round by round

wasnt a robbery and either guy could have won...it was the first time I, or anyone else, saw Mayweather in a close fight. It was an exciting fight. I enjoyed watching a supreme boxer fight the best pressure fighter of that era.


JLC beating my boy lil but bad and drawing with him made me tune in to every fight he had from then until he lost to Hatton live.

Castillo is so underrated. I doubt he makes the hall of fame, but Mancini is in...look at JLC resume then look at Mancini's

I was on the edge of my seat...mayweathers fights with JLC and Chavez are my favorites. ebb and flow...those combos counters and his reflexes are a sight to behold...I always said back then 130-135 floyd like Roy Jones and Hopkins did a fusion dance from DBZ
