Kovalev is actually a horrible speaker, i feel embarrassed for him when he talks tough. It's not because of his bad English.

Tyson Fury on the other hand is a god on that mic. metaphors and punchlines galore

I believe every fighter has his faults and Kovalev is one of those guys that's truly capable of appealing to just about every single kind of boxing fan. He's a good boxer, he does it on the front foot, he's a good pressure fighter and he gets ko's. But there's a language barrier, and some of the stuff he says is politically incorrect and happens to be a very real turnoff to many people. But I look at him and I feel like, what he does inside the ring, he has the goods to be appreciated by just about every boxing fan.

It'd be a disingenuous representation if these guys all acted like manny and played carefully with their words to avoid offending anyone.
i agree with a lot of this.

boxers are a different breed from other athletes. fighting for a living tends to bring out the brutally honest beast inside every man.

if u've ever met a russian who was born and raised there (s)he would tell u that there are few if any colored people they have come in contact with. kovalev probably cracks racist jokes at parties or dinners with his russian friend an family but I don't think he actually sees black people as lesser than his equal. it's the environment he grew up in that makes these kinds of jokes acceptable or even funny

I believe this, its a "what can you do for me" type attitude like when a white supremist goes to prison, he may hate blacks, browns, yellows etc but there comes a certain point where you have to put that hate aside because you will need them. You cant be successful in the sport of boxing and cut doing business with black people out so people saying oh he has a black trainer isnt the greatest defense.

We just had politically incorrect figures and still have many. They are not liked.

Well I was never against guys being Charismatic, Controversial or any of that unlike some fans who now all of a sudden go from complaining about other fighters doing it to now wanting it more

I was a fan of Prince Nassem, Hector Camacho (RIP), Jorge Páez (with the crazy haircuts), Paulie Malignaggi and may others so I never understood why fans was against fighters being "Politically Incorrect" anyway. Why would you want all fighters to act and behave the same? Kovalev not doing anything new or anything that haven't been done. He should embrace that ignorant "Evil Russian" stereotype that people want to put on him and run with it and make a lot of money off of it.
