Michel liked the deal and said it was very fair to Stevenson.
If you get a very fair deal for a fight you want to make, you accept it.
You DON'T bring up a new condition, knowing it will cause problems for the other side. Especially if that new condition does not benifit your fighter in any way.

You won't admit it but HBO failed to get the fight signed properly in 2014, so Haymon saw an opening and signed Adonis to f-ck their plans up. Was it petty, yes.
Last year when the mando spot was granted and The Haymon backed promoters didn't try to make a deal but have it go to a purse bid (where they would have the advantage) HBO made Duva ask not to be the mando.
Now its 2016, HBO wants the fight only on HBO. Haymon clearly doesn't trust them so the promoter he backs suggests having it as a joint PPV, which HBO will not do. Its easy for you to say accept a fair deal just like its easy for me to say go to the purse bid.
Both sides have contributed to this fight not happening at one time or another. Now neither wants to cede control and both sides are operating in a way to prevent the fight from being made.

It wasn't the promoter Haymon backs who suggested the joint PPV. That idea didn't come up till the promoter - Yvon Michel - took the deal he and Duva had worked out back to his boss, Haymon.
As for Haymon not trusting HBO ... that is pure bullshit. ME would have been promoting the fight, not HBO, and all the terms would have been laid out in a legally binding contract.

All that fuss over a belt he lost in the ring making MONEY rather than getting played! FOH with that BS spin!
Adonis should have confronted Kovalev last night LOOKED HIM IN THE EYE AND TOLD HIM HE WANTS THE FIGHT AND WE CAN DO IT NOW but all he could say is "I'm the real champ!"
And have his bodyguards yeah LOL hold him back in some of the worst wwe flunky style acting.
He'll probably duck Eleider Alvarez too
the same hopkins that pulled the same stunt earrlier in his prime when he fell out the ring..and once again he provided on injury info after the fight..
ijs bro..i told u wat happned..golden boy left showtime..we didnt even have words form the ibf saying that he was mandated to face anyone..kovalev wasnt mandated until a few months after beaing hopkins so wat does tha tell you?
READ MORE AND ODNT LISTEN TO BS

I just wish they'd fight.

If you think it's ok for him to block a fight that so many fans want to see, and that, apparently, both fighters want to happen, in order to punish Duva for pulling out of a purse bid last year, then fair enough.
But stop pretending to be a boxing fan.

you can't ask only one side to play fair and the other not to.
