Ward will have no advantages over kovalev...in reach...in height and in strength . This is not a bloated super middleweight Paul smith....and I noticed when kellerman said about ward fighting him he said September or whenever in other words ward don't even know when he will be ready for kovalev ... I'm more than confident that if ward doe's face kovalev he gets beaten up......I'm not so confident Andre ward even sets foot in the ring with sergey kovalevI honestly didn't see anything from Kovalev tonight that would worry Ward. From a pure skill standpoint, if Kovalev didn't hit hard, it would almost be a mismatch. Its all about positioning. Ward is always in the right position. He's either too close or too far for you to hit him flush. And he's always in a position to pot shot you, and not be countered. And he's in position to counter you when you miss. I ain't saying Kovalev can't win. But anything outside a comfortable points win for Ward would surprise me.Comment

Kovalev hits so hard that hes intimidating his opponents even when they block his punches. That guy is one crazy hitter. Ward will be intimidated too, especially as he fought all his career at a lower weight.Kovalev has hard hands. He can punch you anywhere and it would hurt you more than it does him.
That's what he'll have to do with Ward. Punch him anywhere he can, as long as it's legal, especially the shoulders as Ward has bad shoulders.
Sergey is good at keeping distance, but if Andre get close just lean on him, push him down like he did on Jean and push him. Man handle him on the inside.
He should also look at some of the tricks Lomachenko does when a guy tries to hold him. That would help as well.
Kovalev and Beterbiev punch hard. I can't wait for them to fight in the future. Beterbiev used to drop guys with his forearms. He would hit guys to the body or head with his forearm and hurt them, so it didn't even matter if he missed the shot with his fist he would catch them with his forearm.
Hopefully Beterbiev has a nice recovery. I heard he'll be back late March or early April.Comment

And when Ward beats Kovalev, which will you be:
Kovalev was an overrated bum that never beat anybody but a 50yr old. He was dropped by and barely beat Darnnell Boone. And GGG made him quit in sparring
Or.....
Ward fought like a b1tch. He held. He ran. He wouldn't exchange. Yada, yada, yadaComment

Kov is much quicker than he appears. Pascal is one of themore athletic and quick fighters up there and all that became a non-factor. The problem for Ward is that unlike Froch and all these other guys he fought is Kovalev's positioning and footwork. You think Ward is going to be able to catch every jab to initiate a clinch? Kov's jab is too long and way too strong. Ward IS faster, but he has more distance to cover. Kovalev isn't going to wing shots and let himself be smothered. He'll take a step back and hit you in the body if he cant land to the head. That's what makes him scary. His sense of distance and he doesn't lose himself in the fight. I would have said that Ward is more skilled before but Kovalev is skilled in a different, classic way.
With that being said, if Ward can get past the jab he wins the fight but I'm now convinced that Kovalev won't be beat by anyone who can't neutralize his jab. And I think Ward is going to try to initiate clinches from too far and will end up in a mid to long range boxing match and I'm not sure Ward has the style to out punch Kovalev.Comment
