The bottom line is that Toney never hurt Rahman, who has one of the worst chins at heavyweight, after twelve rounds of catching him with flush counters all night long. I'd love to see Toney lay back and try to counter a durable aggressive heavyweight like Samuel Peter, who would be shoving him around and smashing him to the head, body, or even the back of the neck any chance he'll get without any fear of Toney's counters. Toney hitting Peter would be like a bird's **** hitting a windshield at 120 mph. He'd shatter his little hands on Sam's skull.
Toney knows this very well which is why he's struggling to rematch Rahman rather than fight anyone who can take a shot to give one. Rahman deserves respect for the success he's had but I do not consider him a top five heayvweight. Samuel Peter would knock him out within six rounds. Hell Sergei Lyakhovich would likely UD or stop him late to be honest.
If Toney has some balls he'll fight Peter, a fight Lou and Peter have both wanted for awhile now. We'll see what happens, if Toney can man up and accept that he's not going to get the immediate rematch with Rahman (that he doesn't deserve), and fight someone else, maybe he can get a little respect out of me.
I haven't been impressed wih Toney since the Ruiz fight a year ago, and even then the victory was tainted by positive steroid tests. When is Toney going to fight an aggressive puncher and not a tentative Rahman, Guinn, Ruiz, McCline (the fight never happened but it had been scheduled) etc?
Most likely he'll go after Valuev. That's my bet. It's obvious to me that Toney is looking for the path of least resistance. You won't see him in the ring with Peter or Wlad Klitschko, ever.
