Comments Thread For: Golovkin's Promoter: If GGG Beats DeGale, He'll Return To 160

As BoxingScene.com previously reported, WBA/IBO/IBF middleweight champion Gennady "GGG" Golovkin (34-0, 31KOs) could potentially make his UK debut by the end of the year.

Golovkin visited London last week, along with his promoter Tom Loeffler of K2 Promotions, and there were some meetings and discussions to have GGG fight on British soil.

      He won't fight Degale either.

      Just grandstanding.

Now that's a fight I would love to see. But it's interesting, it entails doing 2 things his fans act like is nigh impossible. 1. Moving up in weight to 168 and 2. Making a deal with Al.

I don't have a problem with this. Even though outside of a Canelo fight, I don't see the point of a return to 60. If unifying titles is his goal, do it at 68. Maybe he'll have better luck getting the beltholders there in the ring with him.

Really wish they would consider this move for Apr. Don't really see the point of basically wasting that date on a complete no-hoper. Especially if they genuinely aren't gonna agree to a catchweight with Canelo. Might as well get the ball rolling on unification at 68.

Gotta give DeGale props, if he faces ggg the guy Froch would rather retire against than face. The two have it in common actually, two pure boxers Froch ran and hid from after the likes of Taylor, Dirrell, Groves and Ward exposed him as nothing more than a crude slugger.

Tea in pretty sure Ward would move down to fight him too. But I'd rather that happen after Ward vs. Kovalev
