Because he earned it. We'll never actually know who's the GOAT due to different divisions/time periods, but Floyd deserves to unabashedly throw his name into that hat.
Why is Floyd Mayweather, Jr., so arrogant?

If floyd resume is weak, what does that say about every fighter from his era? Because his resume is better than everyone else's from his era .It's easy to hit a nerve with Floyd. He knows -- we all know -- he's not going to kick anybody's ass, certainly nowhere near 147. He's going to fight a brilliant defensive fight, and the opponent is going to walk away handsome and bright.
Kudos to Mayweather for exploiting the system beautifully. But his career reflects what's wrong with boxing today. His resume is filled with mediocre "champions" with belts that don't mean anything anymore, and with fights that involved all kinds of cute tactics....but very little real fighting.
You define a great fighter by his victories. Who did he beat in their prime? In Mayweather's case...nobody special.
There isn't one hall of fame fighter from his era that he didn't fight.
if you compare his resume to the fighter's before him, sure his resume is weak.
but if you compare him to his peers, he has the best resumeComment

Why can't people move on from Mayweather?
Not even thinking nor do I miss Mayweather, the man is retired, who gives a ****! Boxing will be just fine without him but it is clearly some Mayweather and Pacquiao fans who just can't move on.Comment

people shoot themselves in the foot trashing his resume...he beat better fighters than anyone the last 20 years, so that means everyone has an even crappier resume. If floyd resume is weak, what does that say about every fighter from his era? Because his resume is better than everyone else's from his era .

Most champions beat, title fight wins, hall of fame wins, most money, biggest ppv....i guess we just lived through the worst era of boxing in all timeComment

didnt even call ali mediocre lol.. but the quote he always say is like " i dedicated my whole life to boxing to say someone is better than me? absolutely not"Comment
-
sadly..he isnt going anywhere...its gonna piss some people off but the man is working with al haymon and is gonna bring in Shaefer to help with TMT promotions, he has his merchandise, other ventures
He was/is the most recognizable athlete in the world....sorry fellas but just because he retired doesnt mean that the public doesnt have interest in him
to some people dismay, Mayweather is an all time great, a living legend and people gravitate to people who are the best at what they do.Comment

where they do that at?? Only none athletes think that its wrong to say you're the best....
My personal favorite was when he was interviewed and they said what do you have to say for people who say you only fight for money?..." Duh, Im a prizefighter dummy, I fight for money!"Comment
