Hugh Grant isn't even fooling himself. Floyd is arrogant because he is one of the best fighters of all time.

In fact after a while it stops being arrogance when you continually back it up and just becomes the truth.

He quite clearly is the best of his era. You don't need to be a fan to know that. You don't have to like him or enjoy him, but he is.

At the end of the day, you can pick holes in anyones resume if you have an agenda. Ali said he was "the greatest" but couldn't beat Ken Norton and was lucky and saved against Henry Cooper. In his prime, Sugar Ray Leonard fought a lot of poor opposition like Bruce Finch. Marvin Hagler lost to some very average fighters before he was champ. Tyson fought 2 real elite fighters and got smashed.

See, i don't believe this totally the truth, but see how easy that is to do?

It's insecurity essentially. And the fact that he's small minded, unintelligent and self-centered to the max.

        De****aple character.

he's an undefeated, all time great pro boxer dude. he never lost in a 1 on 1 sport in a 20 ish year career. not only did he never lose in his sport, his sport was f#cking fighting. almost 50 fights against pro boxers, many of them at teh championship level where guys have been training since they were kids and are the best in the world themselves.

you'd have a confidence that none of us understand if you were in his shoes. all the greats have unlimited confidence. it's the only thing that's going to keep your head up and let you watch punches instead of ducking out of the way. you're confident that you can handle what's coming at you, and that what you've got to throw back is enough to win you the fights.

don't sweat what floyd mayweather says about boxers. it's really harmless. it's a function of the confidence you need to be a great boxer.

sweat what he says about women, race, etc. it's not harmless.

the best paid athlete of teh last 5 years and one of the 50 best boxers of all time is not insecure . he is small minded, laregly unintelligent [though a great marketer,] and self centered. he is not insecure . maybe he's insecure about things outside of boxing, but where the ring is concerned, he means and believes what he says. he is supremely confident.

              Well thank you Mr. psychologist.

I did indeed infere that his insecurity is related to things outside the ring. It shines through if you have any basic understanding of human psychology and social behaviour.

I know he is confident inside the ring

Because arrogance and trash talk sells. I'm sure Floyd probably really does think he is the greatest, but whether you agree with that claim or not, can anyone deny that he at least has a strong argument for being the greatest?

absolutely. he cannot make a strong argument that he's the best boxer ever. his resume is nowhere near that of robinson, ali, greb, langford, duran, etc.

you can't make a solid argument that he's the best fighter of all time. you just can't. not if you know enough about the resumes of the best fighters of all time. some of them have several times as many fights. ali is closest in total fights, but he fought the very best HWs of the 60's and 70's, and there's just no comparing his cometition to floyd's.

floyd is the best defensive fighter i've ever seen. the very best. stylistically he was limited because of his lack of finishing ability and god given pop. not knock on him as much as it is a reality. you'd see it show up in his fantasy matchups with the juggernauts at WW, hearns, robinson, and leonard.

In the aftermath it's easy to say that the man didn't take risk, okay he kinda avoided Pac for a long time, Ok, he didn't fight Margarito - But he beat the former generation and the new generation back to back almost, how is that not taking risks? This is boxing, and Floyd has one of the most risky styles you can have.
