Kathy Duva has said over and over again the reason they dropped the lawsuit against Golden Boy is because Hopkins agreed to the fight.
Wish I could remember what program I heard it on but Hopkins had an interview where he told the whole story. Could have been a podcast I was listening to at work one day...

From his mouth he said they stalled the negotiations with Stevenson and he either had to sign the Kovalev fight or get stripped and some no name Haymon guy was in line for the title shot...

And yes I'm sure signing the Kovalev fight aided in them dropping the lawsuit specifically against GBP considering Hopkins is part of that company.

It is funny how some people are still in denial about HBO and how they're keeping fights from happening for SELFISH GAIN!

The problem with HBO is that they don't have the Roster to keep things in house and to keep everybody happy, this thing is going to blow up in their faces eventually. Fans are going to get tired of watching mismatches that are being down out of SPITE towards the other side.

Fighters would be better off leaving their options open to be able to work with ALL SIDES when it is time to make a big fight

Uh its a corporation, not a charity. They would probably take a big loss on this Ppv anyway. And joint Ppv is a big deal, happened 2x ever: Lewis Tyson, Floyd Pac. These guys will be lucky to break 100k.

It's simple man , one guy has an exclusive contract, other doesn't and there's no better money on the table anywhere. He can't use "network loyalty" excuse when his last fight was on Spike

Now we care about the money that Networks make off of fights? You don't even know Stevenson Networks situation, you're just assuming how his contract is setup because he took a fight on SpikeTV. Maybe UNLIKE HBO, Showtime allowed Stevenson to go fight on SpikeTV but that doesn't mean the contact is over. Before you reply with "Well Why Don't They Let Him Go Fight On HBO" remember what you posted to start you post "Uh its a corporation, not a charity."

I'm sure something can be worked out between Networks but HBO is not even trying to do that.

            Yawn.

Handsome Adonis is still quacking. Hopkins was the A-side in the Kovalev fight and he could have insisted the fight be on Showtime, but he didn't. He went along with everything without raising any issue. This is an unbelievable ducking case.

Exclusive TV contracts just further fragment boxing.

Not sure how, OR WHY, anyone would support that ?

It would obviously be MUCH better for boxing if the fighters were free-agents when it came to negotiating with other fighters/promoters/etc.

Soon, they will have HBO " champions "..... won't that be fun.
