won gold at the amateur world championships, which is the biggest tournament of the year other than the olympics in an olympic year, which it was.

didn't knwo that. appreciate the correction, doe. it is significant. as far as i know, it's still int he open division, but the age limit would be hugely significant, considering that many of the cubans, former soviet blocks, fight amateur when they are grown men.

BoxingScene.com has been advised that an agreement has been reached for former unified super middleweight champion Andre Ward (28-0, 15KOs) to face undefeated light heavyweight Sullivan Barrera (17-0, 12KOs) on March 26th at the Oracle Arena in Oakland, Calif. Comical. They have to sell this guy who has beaten nobody to make it look like ward is taking on a challenge. 18 months ago, he was put down by a guy with 7 fights. Pretty sad when you have to hype up a club fighter as someone to test a world champion.

This is going to be a very good fight and i'm interested to see how Ward performs being that he is going up in weight coming off of a long layoff and facing a very tough opponent in Barrera
