Give the man his props and move on...Do you understand whats been up with the Ward hate the last year and change.....he does everything right in the sport....He stays in shape, is a student of the game, isnt a d!ck or trash others in the media.....I think people are on Wards back because they are in doubt of a fighter that they like having a good chance to beat him....thats the only thing I can think of
i do assign a measure of blame to ward for his contract mess with goossen. so if people want to get on him in that regard for his inacitivity i can see where they are coming from IF they're talking about his contract issues. goossen got ward fights at home until the final of the SS, which he got on neutral ground. 2 million to fight edwin rodriguez. i really think ward had a godo thing going with goossen, and at the very least he shouldn't have extended in '12 if he didn't think goossen was the guy to take him to PPV.
i think somebody got into ward's ear about ppv about two years early. if you're not looking for PPV, goossen money and goossen opponets are a good deal. the time for ward to jump to PPV, or build toward that end or even hold out for it, was the retirement of floyd mayweather.
it's no surprise that lots of these guys have started to talk PPV now that floyd is retired, and manny is shot and close to finished himself.
but that's where the blame on ward stops. lucian bute didn't get by carl froch. ward pulled out of the pavlik fight with a legit injury, and then pavlik lost his mind and retired after talks of rescheduling. hurt his knee recently. had his shoulder completely rebuilt. broke two bones in his hand in the froch fight. DAWSON VOLUNTEERED TO FIGHT AT 168. froch blatantly wanted the rematch in his back yard.
bb-bbut ward doe
the king is back. they'll be kissing the rings, like it or not, on march 26th. then it's time to built toward the most meaningful fight in boxing, ward - kovalev at 175 lbs. and if you crap on that fight you're afraid. that's all there is to it.

This is a decent fight, if it actually happens. We've heard this fight was made before, only to have Ward come out and say not so fast.
Sulli B is a good step up opponent, but let's not pretend he is resume building.
Some of you expect GGG fans to hate, probably because that's all you guys do.
I think Sulli is a decent test, and it's good, because fighting Unranked SMW was a dumb idea.

The only reason Ward fans trash MW fighters is because of GGG. Ward is a pretty big dude, once claimed he would be fighting HW. It was always lame he staked his comeback fighting a guy who walked into the ring weighing what the top JRMW weighed.
The GGG v. Ward fight will happen if Ward builds his brand again, because money will talk.
But it will only be brave for GGG to fight such a bigger fighter. Ward chasing the smaller GGG wasn't exactly world shattering.
The same reason I thought Floyd fighting GGG was ******.

Ward supposedly steps up to LHW, but attempts to drag an 38 year old Unranked SMW up to 175. The Nevada Commission thought the fight was a step too far.
But GGG is ordered to fight an undefeated Mandatory, who is ranked in the top of his division, and all they do is clown.
Spare me the violin playing, Ward fans act like the dude didn't completely play his own fans.

how is andre ward a diva?
he's basically signed up to fight a bigger p4p fighter. both teams and HBO are looking at that fight, on ppv, in late 2016. if he beats kovalev it will be one of the best wins in recent boxing history. and if ward is the guy he used to be, it will be just as good of a win for sergei! the winner may very well be the top p4per in boxing.
how does that guy get called a diva? on what planet does a protected fighter [a diva] take that kind of risk? or even sign up for the super six, which ended the careers of several fighters?

Dawson was so weight drained that he got KO'd during sparring. Ward was unwilling to budge for him.
Let's not forget how Hunter acted when they brought up that they wanted the CW. He went bananas, didn't want fans finding out the truth.

Ward also wanted Floyd at 160. Oh, he was joking doe. Was he?

Plus, until this fight was announced, he (or his team) has been trying to cherry pick absolute garbage for his opponents. This is the first sign that shows Ward still has the drive to be great.

Kov isn't that much bigger than Ward. Not in height, weight, or length.
Ward hides his rehydration weight, which is what fighters do when they want you to believe they are smaller.
Ward last fought at 172, and was largely believed to be at least 185 during that fight. He'll be heavier for Kovalev.
Ward is a legit LHW.
And yes, he did come out as a MW, but Ward looked bad as a MW, he was weight drained. It's why he fought SMW.
This dude wants to fight HW, so he said.
He knows he is bigger than his fans like to pretend he is.
