Why does someone's prediction on a hypothetical fantasy fight = fight shouldn't take place?
weight classes matter. i saw what alfredo angulo did to him at 154. lara can't fight any other way than how he fought against angulo. i watch boxing, and i understand it. he cannot fight any other way, and outside of a miracle, that fight is easy to predict.
most of you don't understand what it means when people say "styles make fights," but i really can't sweat that too much.
lara doesn't even have wins at 154 to make him a viable candidate for a title shot, and he has no wins at 160 as far as i know. not only does he not have the wins, he's been in awful fights that make him a tough sell on TV and at the gate.
the support for lara is a backlash against golovkin. it's fairly obvious. these same people will call lara a 154 lber and unproven at 160 if golovkin were to beat him. and they'd be right! lara isn't a legitimate challenger at 160 any more than monroe JR, dan geale, etc. lara's a better fighter p4p, yes, but he's actually a small 154 lber who entertained moving to 47 early on.
geale, monroe, anybody has a better resume at 160 lbs. lara doesn't even fight there! you can't give him credit in the division when he doens't fight there.
you guys don't seem to pay divisions any mind when they don't fit an agenda. they matter. a contender at 154 is not a contender at 160. he is not!
unless he fights at 160, campaigns there, he's a 154 lber, and he cannpot complain that eh can't get a title shot at 160. that is exactly what he is doing. he stays at 154 and talks about a title shot.
you guys put the blame on golovkin? hey lara! want a shot at 160? fight some 160 lbers. if you start tearing through the division and golovkin doesn't fight you you'll have a case for being ducked. until then you're hiding at 154.

After a week or so, IBF says, "OK, we're ordering Golovkin-Wade"
THEN and only THEN did Lara speak up. Where was he for that week when Golovkin's next opponent seemingly could be anyone, and the Korobov rumors were floating around? Why didn't Lara say, "Yo GGG, **** fighting some guy coming off a KO loss, PICK ME INSTEAD!"
^ That **** never happened. Lara was only interested in calling out Golovkin once is a was CERTAIN that the fight was NOT feasible.
This THREAD IS 1000% on the mark and to even ATTEMPT to argue with it is to be COMPLETELY AND TOTALLY FULL OF ****.

if lara wants to fight golovkin he's welcome to campaign at 160 and earn a title shot. he fought above 154 by a pound or two when he first debuted. then he fought canelo at 155, technically a MW fight, and he lost.
otherwise he has done less than golvokin's opponents, who are all ranked higher at 160 than he is. nobody is calling them great. they're being called more deserving than lara, because by any objective criteria they are. they're the guys who have been willing to fight him, they're MWS, and golovkin pounded on them.

if lara really wants the fight, he can end his run of tune-ups and challenge jacobs, eubank or blanco. i think beating any of them would put him in a strong position to demand a shot at the WBA. he could have fought wade already and would then be negotiating with K2 right now
he needs to actually do something to make this fight happen. posturing on twitter is not enough when in the ring he's done nothing lately
