Wow, only one sentence needed to make me not care about Kovalev's current fight or his next. Very efficient.
EDIT: Actually, it makes me not care about Stevenson's next fight, either. So three fights ruined with one sentence. Has to be a record.Last edited by bojangles1987; 01-28-2016, 06:04 AM.Comment

There's no duck from Kov's side. Sounds like Gym is still willing to work it out. Hopefully HBO agrees to a Showtime/HBO split venture. I don't know, but maybe they didn't like the split venture w/Pac/Floydie... but this could be huuuugggee to quote Trumpaholic
I believe it was more like Duva didn't wanna get HBO upset enough to lose the exclusive contract.I know that is the common sentiment on this site, but the easily verifiable facts prove that the complete opposite is true.
Stevenson and Kovalev were scheduled to fight. Kovalev was Stevenson's mandatory and Stevenson agreed to face him, but Kovalev hid behind his promoter and pulled out of the purse bid.
Exaggerate much? Bring up ancient history much? Try to keep up.

Hopefully this one gets scheduled before ******man retires. The longer the time goes on, the less attractive the fight will be.Last edited by PunchyPotorff; 01-28-2016, 06:38 AM.Comment

Considering that no details was given by Steve Kim, a known Haymon hater, gives me reason to believe that this was all Duva.
Especially when she said she planned on having the fight in Russia anyway.
Think about it. If this was Team Stevenson or Haymon's fought, Steve Kim would've destroyed them. But this is the type of lazy journalism I'm talking about. Just really broad articles with a lot of questions still unanswered.Comment

they wont quote this tho biased bastardsFor his part, Yvon Michel was quick to respond to Duva's allegations.
"Adonis and I wanted this fight and I wanted to make a mega success , he said in a phone interview with the" Journal de Montreal ". However, what Kathy did not say is that she has never tried to convince HBO to participate in the project while Showtime was ready to embark. "
"The Kovalev clan had made us a very good offer , but ours was even better . In particular they were offered a 50-50 revenue sharing . It's a shame it does not work and we do not understand why they refused ."
Despite the failure of discussions with Duva , Michel does not close the door permanently.
"Our proposal remains on the table as long as both boxers are still champions at the time to resume the negotiations , said the head of GYM . Meanwhile , life goes on and it is no necessary to blame someone for this situation. It's part of the business ."

Honestly, Kovalev/Stevenson in Las Vegas on US ppv would've bombed. That fight belonged in Montreal, in Vegas they would've had a much weaker gate and neither guy gets good enough ratings that it would've done well on ppv. In Vegas vs Mohammedi, Kovalev sold around 2,000 tickets.
Lets wait and see what GYM has a to say next week after Kovalev/Pascal is out of the way. Stevenson's side (it doesn't sound like GYM) is insisting on Showtime's involvement. HBO should grant Kovalev permission to go ahead take the fight on Showtime and ME should use that as leverage to take the lion's share of the purse. Kovalev would go on Showtime, destroy Stevenson in front of his fans and take his title back to HBO.Comment

From what I read in another post, it was HBO not wanting to share the screening rights with Showtime that screwed up the deal this time. For his part, Yvon Michel was quick to respond to Duva's allegations.
