I'm sure his father's a capable trainer but he should also add an all year round strength and conditioning coach. The weight gain in between fights has always been his downfall.

      Try Something New

Really it's a really good idea for Brandon to try something else to reinvent his style and his career. Hopefully his dad knows what he is doing. It wouldn't surprise me if he moves on to a trainer like Joel Diaz or a more experienced trainer.

Also Robert Garcia has been busy opening up other gyms, and putting more time in with his new crop of fighters such as Saul Rodriguez, Hector Tanjara, etc. so it was just a matter of time before this happened.

Best of luck to Brandon Rios and hopefully he's in shape. It will be interesting who Top Rank puts him in with next.

After the showing in the gym leading up to the Bradley bout Garcia should have postponed the bout and let Rios move on without him.
When the fighter wins the fighter receives the praises when he looses its on the trainer, BS!

        Retire its beyond time!

Yeah no disrespect to Mike! Those boys are C+ talents that give fans great fights but their not great fighters and when they step up they have no chance.
Manny took pity on the guy and didn't throw hard shots at all. Not that he punches that hard at 47 but he still showed compassion.
I like Rios and lil' Rocky and Mike and all the guys like Gotti and Ward but they need handlers who care and when they won't listen the trainers need to walk away. A good promoter won't use them if their being taken care of by non pro handlers. It's a tough way to go but its better than watching them get seriously hurt!

Rios also needs to fight other mid tier fighters. He needs to stay away from the Pacquiaos and Bradleys and fight guys like Vargas, Berto and Guerrero.

^^^Truth. Rios has always been an exciting B level fighter. He has no business in the ring with likes of Pac or Bradley.

                  Good option

Another one too other throw out there would be Lucas if he moves up in weight.
Both guys need to rebound after getting dominated in their previous fights.

Margo fight would be exciting while it lasted.

Another one for him is Berto (but Rios is with TR). If Rios is not contracted to TR, he might wanna get in the mix at PBC. But, who can Rios beat over there? I think he'd lose to the Bertos and Alexanders, if he doesn't take his craft quite seriously.

                      JMM v Rios

Not as good as it would have been a few years ago but not bad.
