I can't believe this fool is continuing. A walking punchbag chasing yesterday's dream. No wonder Garcia dropped him. Idiot.

Anyone know the story with Rios' dad? Did he train Rios as a amateur? Did he train other fighters? Has he been training anyone recently?
Gotta say this is almost shocking to me despite guys on losing streaks finding new trainers sometimes. This is like Rocky leaving Mickey.
I blame South Coast Mitsubishi. I think Robert got F U money to wear South Coast Mitsubishi gear anytime he's wearing clothes for the rest of his life & he's just not been as gym focused since he got this obviously Haymon brokered deal done.

I actually saw this coming, R.Garcia didn't want Rios to fight anymore. And Rios changing his mind would only stick if he doesn't a different route. But I think the damage his done, he would always fight in that face first style.

From an old interview: "To me both Robert Garcia and my dad are badass at what they do. So to me there is no comparison to them. I'm not going to say Robert is a better trainer than my dad, heck no! They are both great trainer in two different types of fighting amateur and professional. My Dad helped get me this far, to finish the amateurs and hand me over to Robert in California to fight professionally. Robert got me this far professionally to make me a World Champion and he's done great in the professional area of my career so I can't compare. I see them both as equal my dad in amateur and Robert professionally."

Rios is better off I think. Small change to pump his drive, maybe he's willing to really work to come back to form aslong as he has someone right by him pushing him along, even if it lasts only for a fight or two.Last edited by SplitSecond; 01-27-2016, 02:00 AM.

Rios has to be matched carefully to survive and live
Brandon is a shot fighter with nothing left with eroded skills and mentally damaged and frail inside. Sad to see Rios wanting to continue to absorb more life threatening beatings and punishment for some cash. Sadder to see Rios's has no loving family support making the battered brain damaged Rios quit boxing. Rios's wife and father are greedy and want money at the expense of brandon dying in the ring. Now that is SAD.

I always said if Rios wants to continue fighting he needs a new trainer but why his dad though??? I felt Robert was too easy on him and now he's pairing up with his dad i just feel its a bad idea.
