Rios is the type that weasrs trainers out. He has to many excuses and is a lazy fighter in & out of the ring. If he and Alverez could have fought every other year for 6 years that would be fine but Rios can't handle the bigger events he simply isn't a hungry guy anymore unless he's standing near the refrigerator!

After the showing in the gym leading up to the Bradley bout Garcia should have postponed the bout and let Rios move on without him.
When the fighter wins the fighter receives the praises when he looses its on the trainer, BS!

    Retire its beyond time!

He needs to stop Elie Seckbach coming into his training sessions, that guy is a distraction.

Obviously i'm joking and its the trainers job to manage the gym and who comes in and out of training sessions but in all his videos it just seems he's distracting trainers and fighters. It's not his fault though, he's only getting an interview.

Yeah I didn't like that either.

Especially considering the beatings Rios constantly took while fighting for Garcia. No matter who he fought he took a beating.

I never liked Garcia anyway, the only fight I've seen him make any adjustments to a fighter was for Maidana when he fightng Floyd.

Besides that I haven't seen much from him.

Always wondered how Rios would've turned out IF he actually dedicates his time really taking care of his body and getting in shape.

It's clear as day that what Rios lacks is discipline. My sense is that Garcia's gym is just one chilled out party, and they tolerated bad habits out of friendship. Rios needs someone that will torture him back into winning.

                lol

Everyone knows that Brandon Rios' time as a prizefighter is almost over; he can barely get down to 147 anymore, his power for lightweight no longer carries up with him, and he'd get ****ing crushed by most guys at 154 (with his sheer toughness leading him to absorb far more damage than need be).

Robert likely didn't want Brandon to keep on fighting, but if that's what's in Brandon's heart and he's going to do so under the watchful eye of his own father (clearing the concern that some other trainer could take on Rios, simply to collect the extra payday and not care about him), Robert is cool with it and will support his friend.

Beyond that, with the Bradley performance already having occurred, Pacquiao already on his way out, and Bob Arum doing business the way he does business, what megabucks showdowns are there honestly out there for Rios, and be honest. The critique is silly.

A good trainer instills discipline so how can someone do that when you train during the day but go out and drink a few cold ones or have a few tacos together after? Anyways Brandons MAIN problem is his inactivity, if he were more active, hed be in better shape. With his style he needs to be fighting 3-4x's per year to keep his timing sharp so I dont see how his dad is really going to make to much of a difference unless he schedules Brandons fights.
Timing's got nothing to do with it; Brandon Rios needed to be kept active so that he'd head into camp at a manageable weight, leaving time in the camp to continue the work on Rios' boxing skills, rather than simply to boil off the weight for the fight.

Brandon's style is his style, unlikely to change all that much; he'd just have an easier go of it if he wasn't left cutting 30lbs to get into the ring to fight.

Nobody in Garcia's gym is ever in shape anymore. That's the last place a guy like Rios needs to be. Good for him at least attempting to make a positive change.
