Canelo looked impressive vs Cotto, better than I've ever seen him before.

But, watching him hit Cotto with clean counter-punches, full body weight behind them, I couldn't help thinking, if GGG hit Cotto like that, little Miguel would go down and he wouldn't get up for a week.

Canelo could not beat GGG at long range. He would be murdered by GGG's better movement and long, powerful jab.

So he would have to come close and exchange punches at mid/close range, and that's where he would be vulnerable to Golovkin's power.

Canelo and Golovkin both have great chins, but GGG hits so much harder than Canelo.

I think that Canelo's only hope of beating Golovkin is to stop draining himself down to 155.

Weighing in at 160, he would enter the ring with a significant size advantage over GGG, and maybe that extra 5lbs would give him the pop that seems to be missing from his punches at "Caneloweight"

That would be the sensible thing to do. And if Canelo really can still make 154, like he says, there is a vacant title and some good match-ups for him at SWW, with Haymon's permission, of course.

But you know what would happen if Canelo vacated his title to avoid GGG?

By the "logic" of the madhouse - BUMLOVKIN DUCKED ANOTHER ELITE FIGHTER!

CANELO is an elite fighter that happens to be the A side vs GGG, but he hasn't always been the A side. Yes to me Ward and Kovalev are both elite. You can be a name and also be elite , by your standard Mayweather, Pacquiao, Cotto are not elite either because their a big name. To further debunk your argument , name me 5 elite fighters that don't have a name, that nobody knows. Don't be blinded by your hatred for CANELO. So what's your criteria for naming a fighter elite ?

-Floyd Mayweather Jr. Quote just a few days ago : "see Canelo , I call a spade a spade , Canelo , that motherf@cker can fight , he's one of the best fighters in the game."
        - so tell me Floyd Mayweather doesn't know about Boxing and who is an elite fighter? I'll take his word over yours anyday.

Canelo isn't an Elite fighter. .he has no Elite Skills..or hasn't don't no Elite ****...he's a entertaining fighter..good to watch. .an A side that's what GB turn him to...I never mentioned Floyd pac or Cotto. .u mention those names to help ur argument..of course Floyd pac are elite name fighters..Cotto just a name now...here's 5 elite fighters. .Rigo. .Loma. .Chocolatico ..Ward. .Kovalev..also pac n bradley still..Fury too.....Crawford/Thurman also have elite skill...as for Canelo I'm still waiting for him to show what he learned vs Floyd. .he yet can't cut da ring off. .lack of a jab..lack of stamina..but hey like GB says he still young has time to get better..and it's not hate..it's da truth..Canelo not elite he an A side...cash cow.

          bingo !!

It's a Mexican stand-off over the weight (no pun intended).

Golovkin wouldn't have a leg to stand on if it weren't for the fact that Canelo accidentally won the WBC middleweight title when he beat lil Cotto..... who accidentally won the WBC middleweight title when he beat injured Martinez.

Canelo's words still ring in my ears..... " I have no interest in middleweight "

I doubt that fight will happen to be honest.

Either way, Canelo should drop the belt, he's had his fun.

His recent refusal to make a commitment to middleweight, in light of the "extension" provided by the WBC..... means that he needs to **** or get off the pot. You don't prepare for 160 by fighting beefy Smith at 154.

Above these, his skills simply vanish and he turns into a fat bum, right?

No, Canelo beats Golovkin at 155 because he is a better fighter than Golovkin and because that weight suits him perfectly.

What your analysis failed to factor in is that Golovkin is completely full-of-****.

That "anyone from 154-168" schtick is fanboy food, and absolute rubbish.

Canelo beats Golovkin at 155 because Golovkin would not be the same fighter, despite the bull**** that they roll out.

At 160, which is GGG's stomping ground, and ideal weight, things change.

Golovkin's assets become much more effective when he is strong/healthy.

... but it seems that Canelo's skills materialize at 154.5-155 only.

Lol. You have this habit of calling everybody who posts a comment you don't agree with "casual fan" then following it up with some idiot statement that proves, beyond any shadow of doubt, that you know very little about boxing yourself.

Eg, the difference between a hypothetical match-up between 2 men in different divisions, and a mandated world title fight.

And therefore, Golovkin is full of shit because he wants to fight for the 160lb title ... at 160lbs.

                      Unbefuckinglievable!
