Comments Thread For: Kovalev Very Confident About Beating Andre Ward, Says Duva

Kathy Duva, CEO for Main Events, is keeping her fingers crossed that a showdown takes place later this year between her fighter WBA/WBO/IBF light heavyweight champion Sergey Kovalev (28-0-1, 25KOs) and Olympic gold medal winner Andre Ward (28-0, 15KOs).

Krusher fan here, but if Ward holds, he'll be getting the upper hand, because as good a boxer Ward is, that's all he does.

I'd love to see Ward fight Beterbiev for one of his "tuneups"

Would kill to see Ward attempt to hold Beterbiev lmao

It ain't Kovalev who is daring to be great, it is all Andre Ward.

We'll have to see. Kovalevs control of range is very good and he's light on his feet for a big guy. Wards very good at what he does, but I wouldn't be massively surprised to see the Krusher start to time him leaping in behind that jab... then Andre may be forced to adapt. Very very interesting fight.

Ward really does need to get a jog on though. Hopefully the Barrera fight gets made, cos fighting the likes of Smith once a year ain't gonna prepare him for Kovalev.

Let's hope this fight actually happens.

Kovalev is a big puncher with a verry good boxing IQ and skills. I think he has the tools to beat Ward.

...And he should be. Kovalev knows Ward's weaknesses.

Yep. Kovalev takes on all foes. Ward dares to be mediocre. Likelihood of fight actually taking place: 10%.

How can he be good if all he does is hold? I think you know that Ward's skill set is better than Kovalev, but you favor Kovalev, so you hope he wins.

From what I heard, Ward is likely to take the Barrera fight.
Let's wait and watch the outcome and talk after that.
