I think it's wonderful that Genady continues to introduce boxing fans to fighters they've never heard of. Like Apollo Creed giving a bum named Rocky Balboa a chance at the title. Golovkin is a real champ because he bucks the trend of fighting top guys and he lets 'the people' have a shot at the belt.

Ok, let's all pretend Golovkin hasn't been doing everything he can to make a fight with the WBC and lineal champ, that he didn't just send an offer to the WBO champ which was turned down, and that his mandatory challenger didn't just pull out of fighting him.

Let's pretend all those options are open to him, but he is ignoring them and going after Korabov instead.

Korobov was the guy that Quillin ducked and avoided like the plague. The guy who dominated Lee until he got hit with that lucky punch.

Now GGG tried everything to get any top opponent into the ring, but all of them just made excuses or have injuries, so he might fight this dangerous guy who only has one loss on his record and the people are already complaining. You guys might look for another hobby.

that is the problem of GGG. He knocks those guys out and makes them look like weak fighters but in reality they are worldclass fighters. If there wasn such fighter as GGG the middlewight division would have a lot of champions and everybody would think middleweight division is best. But ggg is levels above them so fans get false picture of his opposition

Damn. I feel bad for all this hate Korobov is receiving just because he's fighting GGG. He's a great boxer. He's a two time World Gold medalist...

Korobov lost by TKO to Andy Lee, but I think he could have kept going in all honesty. He was taking some shots but he didn't fold. Dude has an iron chin and probably should have taken a knee and recompose himself.

People act like Korobov is a bum because of that one loss, but lets not forget he was pretty much dominating the score cards against Lee.

50-45, 50-45, 48-47 were the judges score at that point, and I also had Korobov ahead (almost every round).


But, as per usual, if you aren't an all-time great you're a bum if you're fighting Golovkin. Only bigger opponents are acceptable. Scratch that, if you have even one suspect loss to a non-all-time great you're also a bum.

And, Kovalev was kicked off the national team in favor of Korobov.

He looked dominant against lee before getting caught with Lee's money punch, and lets face it. There isn't a man in the division that wont get stopped if lee catches them clean with it.

So what he looked bad in his last outing after a long layoff. It happens. The guy is supremely skilled world amateur champion with deep pedigree. This is the kid of fight fans should want to see.

Lara needs a fight as well, he hasn't fought an actual JMW since Dec '14 and that was Ishe Smith. Lara's the one who was talking up a storm about wanting to fight GGG, now is his opportunity - he has no fight and GGG is looking for an opponent. Why is he suddenly silent?
