Golovkin-Jacobs is a fight that should happen, but the fight is worth significantly more to Team Jacobs than it is to Team Golovkin, which will end up with the fight not happening (Showtime being willing to pay for the fight at a price that HBO is unwilling to, will scuttle the talks).

Looks like it's going to be a mandatory against Johnson, damn. Anybody know what the actual offer was to Saunders? I heard it was actually $2m? I just want Canelo and GGG to fight, it's such a good match up dammit!Comment

Based on what? In case you're forgetting, it was HBO who closed the door on Haymon, not the other way around. Outside of the recent digs at the quality of the Klitschko-Fury fight, you don't see or hear Showtime or PBC trashing HBO. If it's a boxing discussion, and a fighter that fights on HBO is relevant to the discussion, you never hear Showtime or PBC discredit said fighter for being on HBO.Apparently it is rocket science.
Haymon/PBC/Showtime ard trying to put HBO Boxing out of business.
The idea that Haymon is going go help HBO boxings ratings when his fighters are being overpaid on Showtime for horrible ratings, and when he has his own thing going with PBC, nope, its not happening.
I can guarantee you that.
If it was that easy, it would of happened a million times over.
Haymon isn't going to go out of his way to boost HBO, but I doubt that he even cares if they stay in business or not; he's trying to reshape the boxing landscape and have PBC be the dominant force.
I will say it again; Haymon helps his fighters way out the risks/rewards of any possible fight. If K2 came forward with the Golovkin fight for Erislandy Lara on HBO (likely on HBO PPV, tbh), what other opportunity could Haymon offer Lara that would trump that? Simple answer is nothing.
Which is exactly why K2 has never even hinted at making an offer for the the fight. Unless they came ridiculously short on the money, Lara's camp would accept the fight in a heartbeat.Comment

Good point. I don't watch UFC and never heard of him until after his win over someone I also never heard of. I mean I don't know who he is whatsoever, so I can't judge here. But, on the bolded, I get the same impression.Comment

Saunders and team is really trying to bank on Golovkin aging/deteriorating, and the fact that a potential clash against Golovkin/Canelo will be more $$$ down the line after the two face each other.
Also, the fact that the winner will definitely want to completely unify with Saunders when it all comes down to it, maybe throwing them more money than Saunders deserves.Comment

Again, same vague "it is believed" nonsense without a direct source.http://www.badlefthook.com/2016/1/7/...fer-or-concede
"It's believed that Golovkin's team has offered Saunders £2.2M (roughly $3.2M U.S. dollars) for the fight".Comment

"Seemingly allocated to establish a TV broadcast series for boxing"
In other words, you haven't got a clue what you are talking about.
Do you really think Haymon is paying, or over-paying, his fighters out of his own pocket?Comment

I seriously doubt that GGG vs Lara would be a PPV fight, and Lara earns $1million plus for fighting nobodies on Haymon's shows.Based on what? Why do you think that K2 would want to pay more than a $1million for a fighter with no title and no fans who would surely stink the joint out against Golovkin?
And remember, Stevenson could have earned more for fighting Kovalev on HBO than he has ever earned for a single fight in his career, but Haymon still said NO to that one.Last edited by kafkod; 01-18-2016, 11:14 PM.Comment
