Wilder may not be a good boxer, but he has that power.
If he lands clean it could be over.
Wilder doesn't strike me as a true boxer, more like an athlete that fights. I think he has the heart though which along with his power makes him dangerous against anyone.
Povetkin is the much better boxer but Wilder has that HUGE punching power so he does have a puncher's chance. He can KO anyone at any time and that makes him interesting to watch but his boxing is not impressive. He's an amazing athlete and won tonight mostly on pure athleticism.
Szpilka and Povetkin are completely different fighters, Povetkin has never showed that type of movement and is pretty easy to hit. Szpilka was moving at a pace he could only keep up for a few rounds, it was just a matter of time before he slowed down and Wilder landed.
Furthermore Szpilka is a southpaw which is why Wilder initially had so much trouble closing the distance. And Wilder didn't get rocked, Szpilka kept stepping on his feet due to his southpaw style. Szpilka also came in the best shape of his career.
Povetkin will be there to hit, and eat Wilder's jabs as Povetkin needs to be up close to land anything powerful. Very basic offense, I doubt he takes Wilder's shots.
Povetkin would also be like a 1000 to 1 favorite in a fight with Szpilka.
Wilder's best hope vs Povetkin is that age catches up with him. He can make him tired then KO him but he can't win trades with an accurate combination puncher like Pov.
