Do you see similarities between Lara and Martinez?

I do a lot. I love "slick" southpaws.

I'm seeing the fight with Angulo and I see some things being done very similarly. Even the not so good chin is there.

You just named off two of my favourite fighters and yes there are similarities.

They are both southpaws that rely on swift movement and have killer left hands. Also, both have no issue fighting on the backfoot as terrific counter-punchers. They both have not so great, but not terrible chins. There is where the similarities end.

Lara, no matter what fight he is in has one, single, consistent pace. Also he relies on a very specific pattern in his fights where he would dive in fire off and retreat. You can pretty much set your watch to it. Also, Lara has different defensive instincts, where he is comfortable covering up and weathering his opponents attacks to get away and resume his pattern.

Martinez on the other hand had gears which he would turn up as the fight progressed. Martinez also would dive in, but unlike Lara, is comfortable on the inside and would rely on his upper-body movement as his defence which was stellar in his 154 and early 160 run. His offence was more varied and his fluid movement was the source of everything offensive and defensive.

Martinez was the more complete fighter overall, but Lara is the best fighter right now who fights in a similar fashion.

Another sterling thread. No, Sergio had an incredibly unique rhythm and movement which defined him as a fighter. Lara is a by-the-book Cuban boxer. Nothing alike other than their professions.
