The VERY BEST 130 pound Erik Morales vs Floyd (from Corrales fight)

how does this match go? Two ATGs that were born into boxing and trained from a young age by their former pro fathers

Wouldve been a great fight and El Terrible would have got the best out of Mayweather

Erik wasn't physically strong enough to push Mayweather back consistently enough and also can be outboxed and outfoxed, which we saw in thorough fashion by Mayweathers 0lympic teammate Zahir Raheem and Barrera in fight 3

His punch variety and the way he could alter his straight right, feint and shoot it would give Floyd some problems, as well as his jab until Floyd got his timing down, which doesn't take more than 2-3 rounds

Mayweather wins a close decision in an entertaining fight with both sporting war wounds for their trouble

IMO he is the only one of the Fab 4 who would trouble him(Manny, jmm, Barrera, and Morales) and had the best shot because of his length reach, chin, stamina and his fighting spirit

Morales was slightly faded when he was at 130.

I think 130 version of Morales gets beaten badly by a 130 version of Floyd.

Style match up is bad for Morales in the first place let alone the fact he wasn't at his best and Floyd was.

This will be my new answer for every Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. thread: Quote

Kenny Porter: ‘Floyd would never fight a young, black African American in his prime’

Floyd was an absolute monster at that weight, too.

It's a toss up man, an ATG matchup, the superfight that May-Pac was not.

Didn't Erik get the better of Floyd in sparring. If that is true, Floyd isn't a stylistic nightmare for Erik

He had good performances at 130....a great fight with Barrera in a loss, clearly beat Manny and won titles vs Jesus Chavez and Carlos Hernandez

I wouldn't favor Erik but he'd push Floyd.

Of course Mayweather was like a mini Roy Jones back then as far as reflexes and foot speed...add in his technique defense and power...I see why you think this but Morales showed that every great fighter has one great one left in him.

there were whispers are El terrible being on the slide after iffy performances vs In Jin Chi, Guty Espades etc...but he really showed how great he was in that Pacquaio fight

too many variables to consider when talking about sparring. Both fighters aren't always in shape at the same time, one fighter might be working on something in particular while the other is going 110%......There are guys I performed well with in sparring but once my trainer said, go all out, the truth came out. I don't put too much thought into sparring sessions when accessing fights.

There were guys I could beat sparring 1-3 rounds but when we'd go 5 rounds 30 second breaks and 3 minute rounds, they'd kick my ass...had to learn the pace and ring generalship

Despite having Barrera 3 a draw and the fact he beat Pacquaio he was still clearly passed his best IMO.

The Jesus Chavez fight showed that especially, Jesus Chavez was a good fighter and very underrated but a prime Morales I'd expect to beat him easily. Whereas that version of Morales struggled with Chavez. Chavez not only hurt him badly but IMO nearly beat him, if he had both arms I'd of thought Chavez would have won that fight.

He didn't loon fantastic against Hernadez either to be honest.

Whereas Floyd at 130 was arguably his best weight. Big, strong, fast, could punch. Can't see Morales at 130 standing up to that.

First and foremost sparring is sparring. Doesn't mean all that much.

Secondly, whether he "got the better of him" is unknown. To this day we only know one side of the story and that side of the story is Morales landed a good shot and Floyd left the ring.

So it's nothing to go by.

Stylistically you'd expect Morales to struggle with Floyd.
