Comments Thread For: Chris Eubank Jr. To Challenge Nick Blackwell on March 5th

Nick Blackwell (19-3-1, 8 KOs) will defend his British middleweight title against Chris Eubank Jr (21-1, 16 KOs).

The fight, scheduled for March 5, will take place at Glow, Bluewater in Kent after Blackwell’s promoter Mick Hennessy won the purse bids to stage the contest.

A win for Blackwell would give him the Lonsdale belt outright having defended it twice already against Damon Jones (TKO 6) and last time out against Jack Arnfield (UD 12).

Great fight between former Saunders opponents.

Blackwell always gives everyone all they can handle, and Eubank Jr. will be no different. He's very good, but only in patches, whereas Blackwell gets stronger and more confident as a fight goes on.

      Cool.

Take the British title (which he will do comfortably) and then go for the world title that you are mandatory for.

he's really only mandatory for the interim title which was renamed the regular title. so in essence he's fighting an eliminator to get to ggg.

World titles are virtually meaningless these days. Winning his mandatory would make him a world champion in name, the same as many of these other world champs.

Golovkin is the champion at 160, the rest are merely belt holders (except Canelo, if he starts to compete at 160).

Jr doesn't want the Saunders rematch next?

                Saunders doesn't want it.

'I'll only rematch Eubank if he beats Golovkin' - Saunders.

I had the impression that Warren is trying to get the rematch and Jr doesn't want it.

Nah, Eubank's already called for it several times since beating O'Sullivan.

Saunders has dismissed it several times.
