Simple if you are the Champion in a division you need to fight the best in that division, if you want to fight some guy in another division either bulk up or down in weight and fight. Ward drop in weight, Canelo fight GGG middleweight 160 lbs.

I believe the entire year is going to suck. Too many out there playing it safe right now.

I wouldn't call a mandatory playing it safe, they have to be made in order to keep your belt. If Saunders and Canelo are going to duck and fight tomato cans so they can make their greedy promoters $$$ what is GGG supposed to do? Sucks I know but that is reality.

It's been three years bruh, three years ago Ward would've wrecked the world. Let's see him reaffirm himself again as he seems hell bent on doing before we start the non-sense with all due respect to Ward he isn't a 20 something year old anymore...past glories are commendable but show us what you can do today against a live body and we'll start f'ing with you again. Some folks around here consider that hate but it's the reality of the matter that objectively looking at how much time it's been since Ward has been in tough most other boxers wouldn't be considered anywhere near top ten with the list of scalps Ward has on his record in the past few years. Can't take away the past but most of us live in the right now.

Ward is in another weight division....I will bet he can't even get down to 168 anymore....too much layoff time....Ward couldn't even half fill his own home town arena against 'Tomato Can Smith', who by the way, buckled Ward's knees in the sixth round....and Smith had lost his two previous fights....Wards day has come and gone....

That's irrelevant to my point, which was how hypocritical Team Golovkin is. One minute they are saying that Ward makes no financial sense then the next minute they are crying about how no one wants to test themselves and it's all about the money.

Surely even you can see what a flip flop that is?

But to answer your question: Andre Ward is about to get a fight on HBO against the IBF mandatory at 175 pounds. And he has an agreement to face Sergey Kovalev later this year. That's where he is right now.

That statement by Loeffler was him passing on what an HBO representitive had told both Golovkin and Ward at their "Are you ready to fight?" meeting.

They were told that there wasn't enough interest in a possible match-up at that time for it to be PPV, and without PPV, the money to fund the fight wasn't there.

That was what Loeffler was talking about when he said it didn't make financial sense.
