The difference is Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao bought enough money to the table to make guys want to fight. These new fighters have no fans and bring no money to the table. There just isn't enough fan demand to force the best to fight the best.

For example, Ward vs. Kovalev is the best fight that can be made in boxing right now but it will probably be a massive flop commercial wise.

This is going to be a major problem for the next several years.

What side of that line the majority falls on determines where boxing is headed.
"it doesn't make financial sense" this is the most used "reason" to avoid fights. rigo vs anyone for example.

The reason nobody knows them or is a fan is because they need to be matched with their peers. The stars will rise up. Matching them safely is not going to make stars out of them. They have to be bold. Look at Porter, he is certainly trying. He wants the big fights, he is daring. The more he gets, the bigger he will get.

I respect Porter more than anyone else in the PBC by far, at least he is hungry.

Damn that fool is a complete Moron. Garcia's obviously bad for the sport and don't expect to see him against an "elite" opponent.

          Pathetic!!!!!

yeah, danny has more experience than those three

he's fought higher ranked competition in peterson, khan, harrera and matthysse. those are some of the best 140 lbers of the last several yters.

            he's just been a 140 lber until recently. not a 147 lber.

he's not a moron for thinking that way. you stand to make millions, and you get punched in the face by pro fighters, which does irreperable damage and takes years off fo your life.

you'd either be asking for the big money, or getting used as a stepping stone for guys who would.

garcia's problem is that he's got a big mouth. he's not supposed to talk like this to the media. that is how he's supposed to think. this talk incentivizes your promotor to pay you big money, or else you'll fight the salka's of the owlrd.

if you can make a million each time you fight a salka for 10 years instead of fight thurman or porter and possibly lose or get knocked out for 2 million, you're making the fight call.

it's not good for the sport, but as a manager, trainer, etc, you are not looking out for the sport. that's his son. he wants danny to take as little damage as possible and take home as much money as he can. and he should!

So your saying it's okay for "elite/championship" style fighters to fight Salka's of the world. Personally I find it disgusting! This is boxing, a sport of warriors/gladiators and if they don't understand that I don't believe they should be on the big stage or should be fighting what so ever.

So what about Salka? Those mismatches are risking people's health, not 50/50 fights.
