I have a problem with everything Angel said. I also have a problem with the majority of users commenting in this thread, blasting Garcia at the same time giving me every fucking excuse in the book as to why Ward/GGG can't and shouldn't happen. You idiots are just as bad as Angel.
Angel Garcia on Thurman-Porter: Why fight each other when they could fight a Salka?

Look at what UFC has done with McGregor in comparison to boxing's younger stars. Instead of having McGregor fight a tune up he is moving up and fighting the top guy in a fight that he might lose.
UFC is far and away the more entertaining product right now. They are starting to lap boxing in terms of matchmaking.
I will always have a place for boxing, but right now I get more excited for the UFC events because the fights mean more.Comment

Funny part is, hmm... I mean the sad part is Haymon fanboys think they look good expressing concern over these fighters' well-being in general. In reality, they're only concern when it comes to Haymon and his fighters'. What about our Salka brothers who get significantly less money, get mauled, beaten to pulp, put on stretchers and sent to the nearest emergency? All for making Haymon fighters look good.Comment

Attitudes to this are pretty important in the overall scheme of things. Traditionally, ducking and dodging tough opponents even when it's happened has been condemned. In other words people acknowledged it happened but didn't approve of it.
Now things are different. There's an element within boxing who want to say that not only does ducking and dodging happen, it should happen. It's perfectly fine.
What side of that line the majority falls on determines where boxing is headed.Comment

That's the part they're not getting. They think they're being generous for giving a pass to fighters, across the board, for taking soft opposition. They keep forgetting that there are 2 fighters in a mismatched fight. One is a Haymon fighter and the other is a Salka fighter, who has no role but to get brutalized, mauled, beaten to exhaustion, and get paid significantly less. There's zero justification in any mismatched fights. None.Comment
