Im pretty sure its agreed upon but the vegas board met today and they decide who gets date on those that applied. UFC with Conor and Holm is a much bigger event for MGM sadly. so instead of saying we fighting March 5th they had to wait for the decision which they knew was going to go to UFC and is why the pulled the request recently.

I think the idea of "competition" between boxing and MMA is overstated. I dont believe there is more than 10% of the fans who follow both sports. My experience might only be anecdotal, but at local boxing shows I cant walk 15 feet without seeing people I know all throughout the crowd, yet at local MMA shows pretty much the only people I know are at the commission table.......

Calm down nerds this is Thurman and Shawn Porter we're talking about here not Mayweather/Pacquiao. Boxing fans barely even give a **** about Thurman and Porter, might as well be any other C level guys like Postol, Matthysse, etc.

I'm sure women's figure skating could strongly challenge the Thurman-Porter ratings.

Don't you think that's kind of sad? Two young skilled fighters being outdone by women's figure skating? (even though I'm sure its an exaggeration) When pbc went head to head with fu cking UFC PRELIMINARY fights, they got blown out. Hell the most anticipated fight between a young lion (canelo) vs a hall of famer (cotto) only did 900k. While rousey's past ppv fights against mismatches did pretty much the same. Even though holm pulled off the upset it was still considered a mismatch beforehand.

Can't say that's a surprise, it's actually incredibly sad how long Thurman vs Porter is taking to make. It's not a goddamn superfight, it's a good solid match but such is the state of boxing that these type of fights are taking so long to make.

I don't mind if it takes time to make compelling match ups but there has to be several in the pipeline at all times to retain more than the hardcore fan. Two or three solid fights per year is just crap.

                    Golovkin-Lemieux did 97K. Rousey-Holm did 1.1M.
