Comments Thread For: Canelo Alvarez Likely Landing at MGM Grand in Vegas on May 7

Now that Floyd Mayweather Jr. has retired, it’s no surprise that Canelo Alvarez is looking to fight on the traditional boxing pay-per-view weekend aligned with Cinco de Mayo. And now that Alvarez has topped Miguel Cotto to become the new lineal middleweight champion, it’s no surprise that his first defense will be on May 7.

Canelo fights to make money and lots of money-Si'

Canelo doesn't need GGG and the potential loss by KO or stoppage. Why risk it as Canelo is a superstar and GGG is nothing. Canelo has a huge fan base while the commie GGG is scorned in America. Americans hate communists so ignore GGG. Canelo can fight BJ or jacobs or the Charlos's and make the same amount of loot than a commie scrap with GGG. GGG offers nothing but a loss to Canelo.
Let freedom ring. Let the commie sit.

Hopefully it's a top 10 guy. Rosado beat Clottey, good for him, but Clottey should not be the road to a Lineal and World title fight. Even Daniel Geale who is ranked #9 would be an okay testing the MW top 10 fight. Lee, Lemiuex, N'Dam. Those 4 guys are okay testing the waters type of fights.

The canelo fight might be on ppv? Who the hell is he fighting? TBH that **** fight last year really effected boxing. May and pac were the last ppv stars for boxing. Here on out i think fights like canelo-ggg and the past canelo-cotto fight are ppv worthy. But i honestly cannot see canelo doing well on ppv even if he fights at the 160 limit against the top guys there.

Bc this is a sport!!! It's not only about $$$, some fighters actually still care about their legacy. A win over GGG could make Canelo #1 lb 4 lb. Plus, even if your just talking $, u honestly think he'd make the same amount for fighting those guys who have hardly any fans?

Geale got blown out by Cotto after GGG. I think he's shown to be way below the top of the division. There really aren't many guys to fight at middleweight that would be less than 5-1 dogs. Lemeiux would be somewhat interesting , really not alot of options.

I'd rather see rematches with Cotto or Lara than most of the middleweights

It's not gonna be somebody that's PPV worthy.

They're banking on Canelo selling with his name and maybe luring the Hardcores with a good undercard

This will be a joke of a fight if it is on PPV. Only one fight at MW is worthy of the PPV price tag and we know it's not happening right now.

vs none of the 3/4 guys he could b fighting...wbc will do what they did @ '54 & bring some 1 up from a lower weight like Hilton; who was a welterweight, and challenge for the title, & he was not even ranked @ '54... Alvarez will always be protected...Alvarez is a fraud & wbc gives him the diamond belt...what BS...
