Guys who come at him like Kirkland and Angulo he knocks out. Guys who get on your bike like Cotto he makes you miss and counters you to death and wins a tactical boxing match. Cotto refused to take chances and sit on his shots BECAUSE he didn't want to end up like Kirkland.
I understand some styles are harder to fight or look good aganist than others But had Cotto been bigger, things couldve been very different, Cotto was able to land a lot.

I don't know what you were expecting but most people saw this fight down the middle and Canelo did a lot better than expected. It was once he got the victory that people got all bitter and wanted to undermine Cotto as a fighter.
Exactly. People need to stop thinking Canelo is some mindless brawler that can only win 1 type of fight. He is not Ruslan who has to come forward and eat shots for no reason because he is limited in skills. Canelo can brawl if you want but if you want to run and turn it into a tactical match he can make you miss and counter you by out boxing you. After all these same bitter fans who predicted Canelo to lose were WRONG now all a sudden Cotto is old or somehow not Knocking out Cotto is some sort of negative. Cotto is a pretty durable fighter he's only been knocked out twice one was with illegal handwraps. And he specifically fought Canelo different then anyone he's faced recently scared of his power and not wanting to engage or get into a war. Had he come after Canelo like he did Sergio or Geale he would of been put to sleep and him and Roach know it which is why the gameplan was to stay on the bike.

Ive always admired Cottos boxing skill (not him so much as a person) so beating Cotto is a great victory to have on a resume so no one should bring Cotto down to put Canelo down but lets call a spade a spade here, when Floyd outboxes someone he is boring and not worth a ppv$, I see no difference in Canelo Alvarez.
I agree with this 100%. Well said.

Cotto literally had one of the WORST offensive output of his entire career. He missed almost 80% of his shots he threw. He literally missed 500 punches. No he wasn't able to land a lot. He threw tons of punches while he was out of range out of fear of getting hit by Canelo. And most of the punches he did throw when he was in range Canelo slipped and countered him with power shots. People keep talking about the size but the real difference was Canelo's defense and faster hands which he used for counters. If Cotto was bigger maybe he stands in the pocket and trades and get's put to sleep. Canelo was the faster and sharper puncher and had better defense. He wasn't just bigger.

Lesser punchers like Judah, Mayweather and arguably Trout had Cotto in more trouble but I didn't hear any of these complaints about the two that managed to get the victory. Cotto isn't easy to get out of there, those who have managed it landed a lot of leather throughout the course of the fight and it's hard enough to load up against a fighter who knows how to defend well.

That said I find Canelo very entertaining to watch.

But lets be serious here, Canelo vs Cotto was a boring ass fight. The only thing that kept me watching was to see if a HUGE Canelo could KO a little old Cotto and we all know that didnt happen even though it couldve many times. Canelo has no cardio and has only improved in the eyes of Oscar De La Hoya. Canelo is 5'7" (barely) in the MW division and throws no more than 2 punches at a time. His power is extremely overrated also.
Canelo is almost 5'9'', for sure at least 5'8''.

                  pac during the early days.

pac only knew how to throw power left hands in the first fight with marquez and morales and then suddenly had right and left in the second fight.

Improvement? If anything, he's stagnant. His performance against Cotto was anything but impressive. Canelo needs shot fighters in front of him like Kirkland and Baldomir to impress.
