Alvarez Shows The Most Improvements On A Fight By Fight Basis

This is what impresses me most about him.

How quickly he's able to learn **** between fights and incorporate them into his next bout.

Can you name a fighter that's more consistent than him at making improvements

I agree he does seem to be improving a lot, especially on the defensive side

Agreed. He seems to improve every fight, maybe in leaps and bounds but in small areas that effectively make him better everytime out. Defense, Offense, Ring Generalship, and Ring IQ.

One thing that needs to be done though, is put him in with equal compition and not pull him back. Much of the reason I'm frustrated with the Idea of Rosado/Alvarez... In my view, if your pulling him back that much; throw him in with weak Brian Vera. Oh that's right, he is Top Ranks version of Rosado.

Canelo isn't getting any younger but hold the age advantage on damn near 80% of his compition. His skills are growing to such a degree, only haters can precieve him as a "Fraud"... But continues to go forward one step and then back two. He is coming off a great year KOING Kirkland and beating Cotto for his second title in his second weight class but goes backward in fighting Rosado. WTF?

Bradley improved at a similar rate coming up but Canelo is MUCH much better at keeping his composure. Canelo just keeps impressing.

I agree, I see something new he adds or improves each fight out. He has not yet peaked he is only 25, remember that. He is so damn poised you keep forgetting how young and ahead of the game he is for that age. There is a long list of young fighters who are older them him see Errol Spence who turns 26 this month, or Thurman who is 27 but have yet to face half the competition Canelo has already faced and beaten. Yet Canelo still wants to get better and keeps improving.

I guess this is officially turning into the Canelo era. I hope this era is quick and NO I am not hoping for a GGG era either. But lets be serious here, Canelo vs Cotto was a boring ass fight. The only thing that kept me watching was to see if a HUGE Canelo could KO a little old Cotto and we all know that didnt happen even though it couldve many times. Canelo has no cardio and has only improved in the eyes of Oscar De La Hoya. Canelo is 5'7" (barely) in the MW division and throws no more than 2 punches at a time. His power is extremely overrated also.

Canelo isn't gonna throw a barrage of punches against Cotto who knows how to pivot, get low and is a decent counter puncher himself. It's not in his character and doing so would have increased Cotto's chances. I don't know what you were expecting but most people saw this fight down the middle and Canelo did a lot better than expected. It was once he got the victory that people got all bitter and wanted to undermine Cotto as a fighter.

This is the downside to him.

Despite having a good boxing brain he isn't able to dominate any live bodies.

Stop hating. Basically all the fighters in the last what 5 years who have stood and traded with him he has dropped or viciously knocked out. The others ran from him, got on their bike to try and stay away and outbox him. All failed with the only exception being Floyd. He has shown he can win multiple ways. Guys who come at him like Kirkland and Angulo he knocks out. Guys who get on your bike like Cotto he makes you miss and counters you to death and wins a tactical boxing match. Cotto refused to take chances and sit on his shots BECAUSE he didn't want to end up like Kirkland.

I understand the boxing aspect and I didnt expect Canelo to become a volume puncher and try to Margarito Cotto but he had Cotto hurt like 3 different times and did nothing. Emmanuel Steward always used to say, great fighters know how to finish fights, Canelo couldnt and honestly only won because he had the bigger punch, which he shouldve because he was like 15lbs bigger... Ive always admired Cottos boxing skill (not him so much as a person) so beating Cotto is a great victory to have on a resume so no one should bring Cotto down to put Canelo down but lets call a spade a spade here, when Floyd outboxes someone he is boring and not worth a ppv$, I see no difference in Canelo Alvarez.
