Everyone always complaints about the fights that are made these days. I'm sure each fighter weighs the pros and cons before taking each fight ,money being a huge con. But what makes boxing great is the ability to overcome what one perceived as a disadvantage. These are two great guys that any true boxing fan would love to see either one fight alone but definitely together. Make the fight no matter what silly clauses may be and we're gonna eat it up. I wouldn't mind seeing Cotto avenge his loss to Trout. It made my wife cry when she saw Cotto's kid crying after the fight. Anyway first PBC match tonight on FoxSports1. SWEET

I can't see this fight happening.

Cotto has really been playing his A side card hard the last few years and he will definitely have something in the contract Marquez won't like at all.

And Marquez turns down a lot of fights and is never afraid to walk away from a deal. He is obviously not boxing for just money anymore or he would have fought Pac a 5th time already and Marquez would have been the A side for that one.

Canelo was a young, prime fighter who still needed a career defining win against a legend like Cotto and Martinez was an older, broken down fighter who just wanted one big fight and payday before retiring. Marquez is not in either situation and doesnt need Cotto, so he'll probably just end up walking.

didn't see anywhere him saying anything about a rehydration clause.

He did say that the fight would be at 147 lbs.

Plus whoever said if Pac and Marquez fought a fifth time that Marquez would be the A side is full of sh**. Marquez would still be the Bside in that fight as well.

Are the teams talking about this fight or is this just wishful thinking from PEDquez?

Marquez is already getting his ped prescription to get ready for the fight lol, cotto should make 147 or maybe 149 for the fight .marquez saw what happenedbwith cotto vs canelo when canelo gained more than 20 pounds after weighing 155 and having a huge weight advantage over cotto

It’s unreal how brazenly boxing promoters and managers acknowledge by their words and actions that fans will buy any proposed match-up. It was reported yesterday by Maria Quinto of the latinpost.com that superstars Juan Manuel Marquez 56-7-1 (40) and Miguel Cotto 40-5 (33) may face each other later this year. Something that was further endorsed by Cotto's trainer Freddie Roach and Marquez's trainer Nacho Beristain...

The problem I have with the matchup is that the result is a foregone conclusion. If you break it down, aside from experience fighting HOF fighters, and even that’s pretty close, Cotto holds all the advantages. He's physically bigger and stronger and the harder puncher with both hands. Against Marquez, Cotto will force the fight and make Marquez use up what's left of his 43-year old-legs. No, I'm not discounting Marquez's punch placement and ability to counter, but I don't believe he has big enough guns to give Cotto the least bit of trepidation. And if Marquez can't gain Cotto's respect, he can forget about winning...

So I ask, other than seeing their names paired together, why would anyone want to pay a good sum of money to see Marquez and Cotto face each other in 2016? I have the utmost respect for both fighters and wish them all the money they can make. And if they do meet, I'll watch it and write about it. However, it's another bout in which the size, youth and physicality of one fighter, Cotto, makes it impossible for the older, smaller and more shop- worn fighter, Marquez, to win.

I asked the same question the other day: Why would anyone pay a good sum of money to see Maruez and Cotto face each other in 2016?
