Boxing as a Sport doesn't have a Brand, FIGHTERS have Brands! Oscar, Mayweather, Pacquiao, those guys are BRANDS! But the Sport as a Whole, No Brand At All!

Boxing way of Marketing is so outdated it is laughable. UFC have the younger Demographic locked in which means going into the future, YES they will surpass Boxing because they have a fanbase that is literally growing with them. That is not to say that Boxing will Die or anything like that but UFC Stars will be Bigger Crossover Stars than Boxers and that is happening already

Boxing Downfall will be its own Divide within the sport as far as this Split Among Promoters and Networks which has also divided Fans. Maybe one Brand with all the best fighters fighting on it is needed for Boxing. PBC is a good start but I question if it is not too late.

I don't agree that boxing has no brand. That's a bizarre notion. It just doesn't have a corporate brand, which is entirely different.

However it is true that boxing would benefit from a UFC style company driving its brand. I don't think that can be questioned. There are implications of course, and a lot of what we love about boxing would be under threat if all promotion was under the au****es of a corporate marketing department. But it would make the sport far more competitive in the mainstream sports audience.
Lmao... What is the difference between "brand" and "corporate brand"

If boxing has a brand, then tell me what the brand is?...

UFC had the right idea and I don't know how anyone can watch this and not see why something like PBC was inevitable. Boxing needs this model.

UFC was bankrupt at the outset and was bought for $2m. Over a decade later, they generated $600m. I don't know how much of a profit that is but it's clear you have to be well-capitalized with a long term plan if you want to succeed.

When PBC was launched, there were extensive disputes about the kind of business model it should follow... Boxing can't be compared to MMA and (American) Wrestling because boxing shares a worldwide amateur infrastructure.

A corporate brand is the shiny logo and the coherent marketing message and strategy.

Boxing doesn't have that, but to say boxing has no brand is not true. Boxing's brand is Ali, Frazier, Foreman, Louis v Schmeling, Mike Tyson, Holyfield, the Four Kings, Julio Cesar Chavez, Oscar De La Hoya, Mayweather and Pacquiao, Cossell, Lampley, and Bernstein, Don King, Rocky, the fight of the century, the rumble in the jungle, the war.

It's not a neat, officially sanctioned corporate brand but it's a very powerful one. One still much stronger than anything the UFC has created despite all their work over the past 10 years. Boxing has a cultural resonance with the public that is completely disproportionate for a sport of its size. But it's brand is not a slick, carefully managed one that effectively targets key demographics. It's a wilder beast altogether and whether that's for the better or the worse is debatable. Corporate marketing would grow the audience, but it would scourge from the sport much of the madness that makes us love it the most.

UFC bought or forced out all of their competitors and will not do business with anyone who wont sign with them. Exactly all the things that are the worst in boxing with haymond and arum, ditto for going back to don king and trying to shut out lewis from fighting his guys unless he gets a multifight deal.

The only thing boxing needs is one belt per weight class. WBC, WBO, WBA, IBO can all merge for all I care.
