Cotto beat the Middleweight champion Sergio

Cotto beat the middleweight champ Sergio. Now Cotto wants to fight little Juan Marquez the 43yr old 140lb used and abused little Mexican?? Smart fight for Roach and Cotto almost like a breather fight a given win. Marquez is a used and abused fighter and way to small for the ex middleweight Cotto. Nacho just wants attention now as Canelo has become the star of mexican boxing and reduced Nacho to just an old appetizer.

As a fan of both fighters, this fight makes zero sense besides capitalizing on their names and national ties

the size disparity and JMM leg and age make this fight a blip on my boxing radar...they both should be fighting someone else

Man I really, really hope this fight doesn't happen. Im holding out hope for Cotto vs Maidana in June, then Cotto vs Bradley in December. We haven't heard from either Cotto (he usualy never speaks on his next opponent until the contract is signed) or Marquez. But if Marquez is actually considering this fight, you gotta respect the Ballitas on him. Especially when you consider Pacquiao refused to fight Cotto over 150 lbs.

Yeah, but that was a prime Pac against a Cotto that had to struggle to cut the weight down to 144. This fight would be an injury ridden, 2 years inactive, 42 year old natural featherweight a mile past his best fighting weight against a way bigger, way younger, still prime Cotto at 154 (at the least).

It would truly be disastrous. Marquez would be slow as hell, not sharp on his counters, easier to hit than ever and he'd struggle to recover getting hurt at 42, having been inactive for so long and coming back from knee injuries.
