It's not clear, but that second Ward tweet doesn't leave much room for optimism.

The way Ward speaks, he really doesn't seem to appreciate how much resentment his inactivity has caused amongst the fans. This arrogant stuff is the wrong look for him anyway, but now it's even worse.

S.O.G. this is NOT a good look! Now if you can get Fonfara or Beterbiev instead, then...my bad!

Well that would be impossible. Rival networks, promoters etc.

What Ward needs to do is stop the bull****. He seems to be a giant ball of red tape. Barrera seems to be a decent fighter. Good prospect, Top 20 guy maybe. He is not even a big Lt Heavy, fights at 172-173 more often then not. He would be a perfect introduction for Ward to the division.

          agree.

if your'e going ot kick and scream about a great payday against the perfect opponent to get you ready for your november ppv fight at 175 against a p4per with punching power.... yeah... it's time to retire.

It just gets silly. He seems to concentrate on paperwork far more than ring work. It is getting harder and harder to take him seriously.

That's right, I forget Ward signed with HBO. Well, you're right, Ward has to make the fight ASAP!

Very true indeed. hes a good guy, gives a lot back, its a real shame. If he signs off on this no harm no foul, but if not, it is time to reflect...

come on dog! listen to your fans!!! were trying to defend your squinty eyed azz, show that luv, as Spike Lee says "do the right thang!!"

...And people still think Ward is really serious about facing Kovalev. Or have yall finally come to your senses?

unlike a lot of these people, the "ward fans" generally have no biases. we don't make up our minds before the facts come out, the way a lot of the "haters" do. that's a childish, and unproductive way to approach boxng. you don't learn or grow, which, for me, is what this sport is about. year or two to learn, lifetime to master. some people never get there.

it looks bad. very bad. if ward genuinely "ducks" this one then i'll go ahead and say i give he and kovalev zero chance of fighting on PPV at 175 this year, and i'll put the blame on ward.

i want to add again that i think this is the perfect opponent. good, not great. physical, but not huge. stern test, but not a guy who will beat you or set you back in your comeback. this is top shelf matchmaking. ward should take this fight and be f#cking happy.

ward's rebuilding. he has to start to recognize that. being out of the ring for years is the same as losing in the eyes of fans. they expect a heck of a lot more than what they've been given. if they're not streaming fights, and pay the 10-20 a month it costs to buy HBO, i don't blame them at all for complaining.

you cna't blame ward for all of his inactivity. as i've illustrated in the past, he's had some good excuses. shoulder surgery. broken bones in his hand in the froch fight. kelly pavlik losing his mind and flaking on the rematch by heading to rehab / retiring. recent knee inury / sswelling to keep him off of the canelo - cotto undercard.

you can absolutely blame him for some of it, doe! he re-signed with goossen in 2012. god knows why he did that if he didn't think goossen was "big enough." he signed the contract and immediately started to complain . joe goossen got ward good paydays and decent opponents. got him at home in the SS until the final, which he got in AC, a solid neutral venue. got him a heck of a lot of dough for edwin rodriguez! 2 million to fight a fringe contender? and you're complaining?
