I wonder how the WBA handled that? Did they just ignore Hatton Promotions?
He's fighting for the WBA "regular" title against Chagaev in March, so he doesn't need to be a sort of mandatory challenger for the interim title.

Sucks that Ortiz is only making a splash now. He'll be 37 in March. If he wants to get anything out of his career, he has to get busy fast. We might only have him for another couple of years.

The WBA is an organisation working non-stop to build and maintain integrity within the fight game. Its main think tankers are, even as we speak, trying to figure a way of screwing sanctioning fees out of those low level guys boxing four round card fillers.

I hate the WBA but in this case, Ortiz needs this to get bigger fights. Whether it be the regular title, the interim title or just a ribbon for participation; what looks like a meaningless joke title to us is probably is only route to Fury and Wilder.

Hopefully there's a competent ref. Ustinov is slow to move and has extremely poor defense, but he's big enough to take a lot of repeated blows. The only thing of interest is to see how Ortiz reacts from getting hit by an Ustinov bomb, which he'll probably land a few before Ortiz takes over, if he just simply rolls with the shots. But yeah, Ustinov had to bail himself out of the Pulev fight after taking rounds of beatings. Wouldn't be surprised that he'll have to resort to the same, since it's kind of rare that anyone actually looks out for the fighters.
