hbo had no interest in the fight just like they havent had a interest in linares's last 3 or 4..or even more than that..
This fight would not be happening if Golden Boy did not want it to. Dibella avoided a purse bid by paying Linares a lot of money and Golden Boy gave it's blessings for it to be on Showtime. HBO wanted Linares to fight Gamboa which might happen after this fight. The purse bid called for Linares to make 70% and Lou's fighter only 30%. Linares is making more money then Dibella's guy.

If anything this shows Golden Boy is serious about making the best fights possible. Could of easily done like many other promoters/advisers have done to kill a fight rather then allow their guy to get paid on another network.

Exactly. Linares always makes exciting fights and on pure talent is easily one of the best fighters in the game. Only question mark has been his chin.

zlat is a represented by haymon..going to a purse bid means u lose..and if u know u dont have hbo's backing u dont go to a purse bid bc he might big 100k and then all fighters make very little money while they likely give zlat some under the table...nobody gets credit on purse bids..only bashings if htey pull out..unless you have race invovled like kov/kathy pulling out on stevenson

That's a pleasant surprise. This will create a new lightweight lineage after Crawford moved up.

If the roles were reserved and a Haymon fighter was looking at a purse bid would the fight happen? Perfect example is Haymon forcing Quillin to dump his belt and turn down a career high pay day to NOT let his fighter under a promoter or network he didn't like after he REFUSED to honor the purse bid. And we've seen numerous other ways promoters have killed fights. Golden Boy just allowed their fighter to go and fight on Showtime and make big money. Something Haymon for example will not allow. If the roles were reversed would you see a Haymon fighter fighting on HBO? No see Haymon forcing Beterbiev to turn down a career payday to fight Kovalev on HBO.

Golden Boy is proving they will literally work with any promoter in 1 year's time we have seen big fights with Golden Boy and K2, Top Rank, Roc Nation, SMS, Dibella, ect. Too bad more Promoters aren't doing what Golden Boy is doing

This is a good fight. Zlaticanin is coming off two very solid wins.

Just stop Quillen first excuse when Haymon made him pass the fight was that he was moving on to a bigger fighter instead.

"Mr. Quillin has reviewed the middleweight landscape and is of the belief that there are other more compelling opponents for him to fight which will afford the boxing fans with excitement and which will afford him and his family more opportunities," Joseph wrote. "Please be assured that Mr. Quillin is by no means minimizing Mr. Korobov's talents or accomplishments. Mr. Quillin simply seeks to pursue bigger fights."

"Kid Chocolate" Peter Quillin vacated his middleweight world title and kissed a career-high $1.4 million purse goodbye on Thursday.

That was the public statement him and his team released when they vacated the belt refusing to go forward after Roc Nation won the purse bid. It was only after months later with no bigger fight in the works that he said he was mourning his uncle. That was pure BS and you know it.

As for Beterbiev don't give me he only has 10 fights crap dude turns 31 years old this month and has a long amateur career very much like Loma where the amount of official pro fights (6 in his case) does not reflect the type of fighter or stage he is in and you know it! Plus Beterbeiv for over a year was calling out begging for the Kovalev fight. Once he get's what he's asked for now his team says he's suddenly not ready? Stop it Haymon forced him to turn it down and go for a eliminator fight for HALF the money then a career high payday to fight for ALL the titles right now. Get your head out of Haymon's butt and stop defending him.

My point is Haymon has killed numerous fights when he was in the exact same position Golden Boy was in where a fight would only happen on another network or under a rival promoters control and found ways to kill the fight, pull out of purse bids, vacate titles, turn down career paydays for his fighter ect. Golden Boy get's credit from me for literally making fights regardless who they have to work with. Something Haymon and many other promoters refuse to do. Golden Boy just let one of their fighters go to Showtime and get paid big bucks to make a fight fans would love to see. Let's wait and see when Haymon let's one of his fighters go to HBO and do the same.

By the way ESPN broke the story and in their article says that Dibella would be promoting the fight but since then Lou Dibella himself tweeted out this in a direct response from a fan asking him "Is GoldenBoy co Promoting this?"

                    @loudibella
Will be promoting @JorgeLinares vs. @DinamitDejan1 in association with @GoldenBoyBoxing and HOFer Mr Honda's #TeikenPromotions @EddieRoyce23
So it may not just be a just a Dibella card without Golden Boy. According to Lou's tweet Golden Boy will be promoting the fight as well on Showtime. Will be interesting to see how this plays out.

even if u feel artur is old..u didnt hear a word from haymon..u heard from arturs promoter and u're calling it haymon bc quillen turned down a fight where roc nation was attemping to steal him from haymon..

u say multiple fights but only have one that is even remotely close to questionable...he doesnt have to make his ppl go anywhere if he wins the purse bid like he's been doing..is that a knock on him as well that he wont let others win a purse bid??

i say this hbo burned the bridge with haymon..they should mend it..simple as that..they only want haymon fighters when they are not favorited to win u understand that right? not much of a fence mending strategy..
oscar was teh drug addict and hbo looked right past it and was mad at haymon for not puttin gon fights vs top rank that hated him...it is as simple that they wanted for haymon to deplete his stable of fights and then they would see who they want to keep..instead he made an outlet for all of his fighters..how can u be mad at that..and he's given more good matchups than anyone else..
