They're both great players. No need to refer to either of them as not being able to carry the other's 'jock'.

Derek Jeter has 5 world championships. Griffey has none. Jeter won Rookie of the Year, Griffey Jr was 3rd place. Jeter is a 14 time all star, KG went 13 times. KG won 1 MVP, Jeter won 1 WS MVP. Griffey won 7 silver sluggers, Jeter won 5. Griffey was an outstanding fielder, winning 10 gold gloves, Jeter won 5.

Yankees all time list, this is important because this is the greatest team in MLB history:
    1st place in hits
    1st place in stolen bases
    2nd place in runs scored
    1st place in doubles
4th place in base on balls

In playoffs, all time MLB list(all players from all teams):
    1st place in runs scored
    1st place in hits
    1st place in doubles
    1st place in triples, tied
    3rd place in home runs
    4th place in RBI's
5th place in base on balls

    MLB all time:
1st place in hits by a shortstop
    6th place in hits

He's one of the greatest players in the greatest MLB team in history. And let's face it Jeter was robbed of an MVP award in 2006. He was second place, with a .343 batting average, 214 hits, 97 RBI's, 42 extra base hits. He was also cheated out of MVP's in the late 90s from PED users.

Now as far as fighters go and achievements....Gatti, Mancini and Mcguigan should not be in there or at least let guys like Gilberto Roman, Eddie Booker, and guys who've been on the ballot and who beat better fighters get in first

it has become a popularity contest where the put more weight on " cultural influence" and being in wars trumps skills, dominance....sad sad sad
Yeah only in boxing. You'll never see Kevin Costner, Dennis Quaid or Brad Pitt getting into the baseball hof for being in great baseball movies.

Great article. Don't think there's a 'right' answer to be honest.
