Not to mention, Rigo doesnt have any followers, his fan base is like what 30 people? His own people aint even rooting for him. And if u are complaining that he's not getting the shine he deserve, ask his manager, the one who is overlooking his career. When was Ward's last fight again????? How do u expect these guys to be ranked or held any higher if they lack the tools to get them there, in ward's case, not putting in enough work to show the people. What i sense from Floyd and his followers is that all black fighters should be held at the highest standard, doesnt matter about skills, etc.
lets be real, I got white homeboys that were rooting for him because they though he was from spain, when I told them he was Mexican, they were like...but he looks white.....race plays a part, the only people that act like it doesn't is the people who benefit from it....it started that way and it will remain that way

Unfortunately, Rigondeaux has found that in today’s boxing world, winning a world title is only half the battle. With today’s proliferation of world titles, it is easy for contenders to avoid champions whom they do not fancy their chances of beating. It is also easy for champions of other boxing bodies to avoid fighting in unification fights they know that they wouldn’t win. In late 2013, Rigondeaux started responding to those who wanted to disrespect him publicly.
Rigondeaux told George Ebro. “Here is what bothers me, the lack of respect from Top Rank and Bob Arum, who makes jokes in bad taste – like the one where he says that in order to become a superstar, Fidel Castro has to come down and promote me or how the people at HBO vomit when they hear my name,”
“HBO recently paid homage to all of the champions and Top Rank/HBO did not invite me. They say they’re going to give me exposure on this card and that card and then forget those promises. Everything is a lack of respect. Either they promote me or give me back the contract, but I will not accept any more disrespect. I’ve won my titles with great effort and I will not let anything or anyone come and disrespect me. Arum does not treat everyone equally, I have no doubt about that.”
It is argued that Rigondeaux is not a draw with the fans, but is it really believable that a fight between Rigondeaux and Santa Cruz, or Rigondeaux and Carl Frampton, would not be a must-see for many boxing fans. Yes, there are some fans that find Rigondeaux too technical and too good at what he does. But, there are other others, indeed many more than some promoters and managers would have us believe, that enjoy Rigindeaux’s style, and would love to see him matched up with the other top names at 122-pounds. Unfortunately, it will probably never happen. Especially when Bob Arum’s makes statements about HBO lack of support of Guillermo “Every time I mention him, they throw up, So I have to figure out who I could put him in with.”
The Jackal last fought on December 2014, defending his world title against Hisashi Amagasa, in Osaka, Japan. Amagasa is a natural featherweight, and looked huge on the night of the fight, dwarfing Rigondeaux. The fight was stopped in the 11th round with the Japanese challenger’s right eye shut, with his cheekbone and jaw, swelled up horrifically. Amagasa had been game, using his extra size well, and had even scored two flash knockdowns in the 7th round (the second being a definite slip.) Following the disputed knockdowns Rigondeaux had punished his challenger brutally, showing his underrated punching power, and uncanny precision, as he turned his challenger’s head into swollen mass over the next few rounds.
Since this defence, Rigondeaux has been inactive, the worst scenario for any boxer, especially for someone who relies upon speed, reflexes, and is in their mid-30s.
Rigondeaux has been let down by the people who run boxing, by his own management, promoters, and boxing fans. Rigondeaux’s management did not stand up for their man, especially when Arum went on his tirade about Rigondeaux. It was character assassination, which could have been grounds for legal action. Gary Hyde’s rebuttal letters to Arum’s comments were simply an ineffective public expression of his dissatisfaction with Arum and Top Rank.
Boxing fans need to take responsibility also. Either fans want to see the best at the top, or they want to be part of the game that manufactures champs with politics and publicity. Which is it? When sub-par boxers are glorified to the top, not by their talent, but by the politics of boxing, and manipulation by the powers that be, to escalate them at the top of the game, we have a very different kind of boxing. This kind of boxing would be more like the WWF, not the kind of professional boxing where you honestly believe a fighter is defeating an opponent because of their talent. A fighter whose talent and ability is a perfect illustration of why boxing has often been called ‘The Sweet Science,’ and who has learnt first hand how this ‘Sweet science’ is also often and crooked, dirty, and a bittersweet business.

In order to be treated like a star u need to act like one. It doesnt matter if u are 32-0 with 32 kos. If u act like a d1ck, u get treated like one.

On top of that, rigo has no followes, canelo has his whole country behind him! Personality plays a big role in this which the fighter u mention about being mistreated doesnt have! Yes, race does play a part and everywhere u go there is racism but u guys are taking this out of context. Its like u get mad that guys like broner doesnt get the shine he deserve. Who the f wants to give this guy any attention when he's posting pics on instagram eating random strippers out?????
Personality.....Bro I watch the fighters fight, I don't care about that shyt....some people do, its about how good the fighters are, this isn't WWE
what does the language you speak have to do with how good you are as a boxer, and the promo you deserve for your dominance AND fighting top notch opposition?

some athletes are class acts and get no shine, others are dycks and loved...
guess its all personal preference
I think anyone who has shown they are elite, regardless of location, language or creed should get some shine.
Boxing is a world sport, its not like the NBA where everyone comes to America and plays ball
Boxers have real world champions and guys who are of a high caliber deserve shine....swagger, charisma does play a part, so does personal bias of fans and media

bro, who do u think is paying for these fights? Us, the fans! If people is not in tune of what rigo does, TR cant do anything for him. Boxing is about business. Im not saying if u cant speak english then u suck at fighting. Your twisting my words. Im saying u cant expect to be promoted as a star if u cant bring in the other half to the puzzle. If u look at most of the foreign fighters who speaks very little english but they make up for that with carisma, they have character in them and this is what makes people love them. Rigo looks piss all the time, its like he doesnt wanna be there or something.
