What about this OP actually is? Ward/Barrera or Thurman/Porter?

We didn't hear much from Wrad himself as of lately, though...

Ward's recent behavior, in chasing the likes Rohan Murdock and Alexander Brand, left a large amount of his fans at a loss. To have ambition to face Golovkin and Kovalev, but at the same time picking the worst options possible is quite curious, to say the least.

Did Ward publicly say anything about Barrera?

Of course you didn't, because Ward was very attentive and never publicly stated that he will fight Kovalev at a certain date... More: Ward never disclosed the supposed date for his "planned" fight vs Golovkin as well.

(Ward called Golovkin "lil G", as he previously called "lil Floyd"... It's a pattern here...)

He recognises the inevitability and seems very open to the fight happening. He is contracted to fight Kovalev, there is no reason to believe he won't.

LOL Stop. Main Events and Kovalev obviously want the Ward fight. Ward should thank Main Events and Kovalev, as they are probably the only reason that he was able to sign a 3 fight deal with HBO.

Now, will the fight happen in 2016? I'm not sure. There is an agreement, but a lot of things can happen between now and then (like minor knee swelling).

                    Ok, thanks for the link...
                    Ward says:
“I think this fight [with Kovalev] will be one of the best fights that boxing has seen in a long time. How good? I don’t know. The matchup on paper, his résumé and my résumé, it has the makings of a great fight and now we’ve got to get out there and make it happen.”

... as you may see, Kovalev's name is within square brackets -- i.e. Ward never mention that specific "Kovalev" name... Also: Ward didn't say when he would fight Kovalev...
