Why are so many pure boxers or former boxers picking Byrd over Wlad?

For Wlad to gas out, I really think Byrd is going to have to put a lot of pressure on Wlad, which I just do not see working. If Wlad wants to take alittle rest, he can just sit outside a jab. If Byrd really finds a way to hurt him (which I doubt), Wlad knows how to grab. It is just a complete sytle disaster for Byrd.

That being said, if Wlad wants to show he is not just another belt holder, he needs to knock Byrd out. With out a knock out he is just another big white guy with a belt
i dont know, he looked winded to me in the first fight by the mid rounds. of cource by then byrd was blinded and no longer a threat.

    we'll all see satrday.

i can see where you comming from because thats all it will take for him to beat byrd is his size and punch ...but you gotta ask your self ..if thats all it took shouldnt guys like mcline be able to beat him too? or golota?

these guys should beable to kill byrd if all it takes is a big guy with a big punch

wlads offense is special i think...hes got tommy morrison like damage but with a gene tunny like craftyness

call me ****** but thats what i see it as

      • I want to see Oquendo vs Wald. He said in an interview he wanted a rematch with Bryd, but I got a feeling Wald is gonna win. I would also think that Calvin Brock is another threat for gaining a championship belt.

          • A lot of the fighters picking Byrd are probably personal friends of Chris Byrd. Byrd has had a long amateur career and has been around for awhile as a professional as well. He is in the habit of being in attendance in a lot of major fights, and he has a very friendly personality, chances are he knows most big name fighters personally. In fact, I think he even says in his boxing scene interview that he has a lot of fighters over for dinner and stuff when they are in the area. Wlad Klitschko on the other hand, is this European guy who a lot of fighters probably haven't every met.

Among them are Roy Jones Jr., Floyd Mayweather Jr., and Lennox Lewis. Now here's where the serious part comes in. Do they want Byrd to win or do they truly think he will? I wouldn't bet 10 bucks on Byrd to win this fight, but these guys think he's going to win. Call it racism or whatever you want, but I gotta know why you think they're picking Byrd.
Curious....where did you read their predictions?

              • Roy said it on ESPN friday night fights couple weeks back. Mayweather said it online. Lewis, on the PPV 2 weeks ago, said Byrd was coming to defend his title and said something along the lines of him winning.

No, you aren't ******. You're telling the truth.

He's easily one of the best offensive heavyweights I've ever seen since a Prime Mike Tyson.

Ronnie Shields himself having trained both Wladimir and Tyson claimed that Wlad's hands are actually faster than a prime Mike's.

If you don't know by now, he is an offensive machine. He can throw five punch combinations with his left hand alone....and accurately.

There are far too many idiots who've only seen Wlad fight after his loss to Sanders....and they're judging him based on that.

They have no clue what he is capable of....because they aren't real boxing fans. They'd like to call themselves that....but they aren't. They're weekend watchers.
