Comments Thread For: Golovkin's Manager Doubts Saunders, Warren Being Serious

Oleg Hermann, manager of IBF/IBO/WBA middleweight champion Gennady 'GGG' Golovkin, is shaking his head at the lack of concrete communication from WBO champion Billy Joe Saunders and his promoter Frank Warren.

Saunders captured the title last month with a twelve round majority decision over Andy Lee. Following his win, Golovkin's team sent his promoter a solid offer for a fight to potentially take place on an April date at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

Still no mention of heiland as a potential foe? Would be a great fight and if gg beats him now he won't have to face him later

If I were K2, I'd save Heiland for later. Of the top 15 WBC challengers, Heiland is probably the best fight that could be made. Eubank is in there too, but between those 2 I think Heiland is the better fight. So why fight him now and then have to do the WBC mando against some slob at a later date? I would save Heiland for when the WBC mando is due, instead of fighting him now and then being stuck with Soro or Ndam in a mando nobody cares about......

Negotiating and badmouthing through the media never leads to anything good. This won't sit well with Warren or Saunders. They'll probably go a different route because of this interview, why deal with a big mouth who does not know how to be patient? The deal was offered recently I imagine. This guy is either ****** or deliberately trying to ruin the potential fight so that GGG just fights Johnson.

Huh? Is today opposite day? Heiland a great fight, he's not even top 10 at MW. 26-4. One decent name on his resume, Macklin coming off stoppages to GGG and Martinez. How is this a great fight for GGG? Oh I get it, we have to lower the standards when it comes to Golovkin. So yeah, for GGG's standards, Heiland is a "great" fight.

Where did I say Heiland was a "great" fight?? Answer: I never did. You made that up. What I actually said was that of the WBC top 15, Heiland is probably the best fight that could be made.

            Reading is fundamental.

Having someone make you a big fight offer and saying "I dunno, but I'll ask the guy in a few weeks"

I'd like to see them shoot Jacobs an offer. I find a lot of the 'HBO guy vs PCB guy' talk pointless as there are very few fights big enough to see them working together on. But if Duva can try make the fight with Stevenson then K2 should at least try basic communication with Jacobs, just because it generates enough at this point and is the clear best 160lbers going at it. It seems neither side are eager for it though. I just really hope we don't get Toreano Johnson. I'm sure he's a nice guy, deserves the payday for his sick kid/mom/cousin but if so just give him step aside money for the rest of his career so we never have to see such a mismatch.

As a manager trying to negotiate a fight, why would you even say this? You made Saunders an offer, yet you're saying he's not serious because of what he said a two weeks ago. If you knew his stance, then why would you make the offer to begin with?

Just make the offer, and keep your thoughts to yourself. Is it that hard to do?

Golovkin seems like a nice guy, but his team does him no favors.

Wtf you said Heiland is the best fight that could be made. Stop with the semantics. You feel it's a great fight you terrible GGG fan. You excuse anything he does and any weak bum he fights.
