Was De La Hoya Mayweather's first REAL big fight?

Was the De La Hoya fight Mayweather's first true big fight?

If so it's a credit to De La Hoya's star power. And Mayweather's fame and fortune is partly due to the Golden Boy.

Yes, before Oscar Floyd's biggest fight was Arturo Gatti. He became a household name in boxing after stopping Gatti but he became a pop culture icon after defeating De La Hoya.

Most PPV stars get a big bump fighting and beating another PPV star.

What's with this site's obsession with Floyd Mayweather?

The man is retired. So many other boxers at the top of their game to talk about and look forward to.

Why even ask this? Oscar was Floyds and Mannys first big fight

Depends on what you call a big fight.

Because if we criteria big fight by revenue, then yeah.

If we criteria big fight by quality of opponent. Diego Corrales was 33-0 30ko. That's a big fight if there is any.

He can owe the vast majority of it to ODH. That fight set so many records at the time and made Floyd a household name.

Why do you rush to post in every Floyd thread when you obviously aren't a fan of his? Do you see me rushing to post in every thread about Amir Khan? What an odd obsession you have.
