He was too young.
He wouldn't have a shot to go to the Olympics since Carlos Balderas qualified early to the Olympics in the 132 weight (where Haney fought at).
So nobody in that division had a chance to begin with.
I think Balderas is the correct representative imo anyway.

I doubt Balderas medals as he is in one of the best, maybe the best, division in amateur boxing right now.
Balderas already faced one of the top guys in the division, Selimov, and he basically got toyed with.
Balderas will be a good pro though.

Selimov has had success since he was at least 20 years old, so it's not like he's taking advantage of younger fighters. When he was their age he was still whooping ass and even got a Gold medal at a World Championships at the age of 21.
Professional boxing just wasn't meant for him.

Keep an eye on Balderas though. He seems to have good pop.
Getting beat by Selimov is nothing to be embarrassed about.
