Ive been a boxing fan my entire life, read up on the history of the sport, fighters, techniques daily, have boxed and have trained fighters, clients and friends

I do my own research and form my own opinions, and that is the problem with a lot of these bandwagon jumpers and nut huggers on this site

I can support my opinion with a basis of facts and stats

1)Mayweather has the head to head win

    2) Mayweather dominated Manny's rival in Marquez and made it look easy, while Manny didnt beat him clearly once, in 4 tries

    3) Mayweather beat ODLH and Hatton first and closer to their primes

    4) Pac is 6-2-1 in lineal title fights, 18-3-2 in major title fights.....Mayweather is 23-0 in lineal title fights alone......Mayweather has triple the title defenses

    5) Mayweather has wins over more lineal champions, titlists, hall of famers and top ten contenders

look it up....i stated facts...if you base what is better on preference, thats cool, but I look at stats, facts then use my opinon and eye test.

Bradley was not a tougher assignment for Floyd....a fighter without power, who mostly boxes, but brawls and throws wide shots when aggressive.....i dont know what planet you're on or smoking
Stop stating statistics like politicians do,who are seen as dishonest! Stats that don't mean anything. PAC fought the better fighters simple as that.

      Speaking of Foreman

      According to your logic

Big George is the greatest to fight in Holyfield's era right?

If he did, the stats would reflect that and so would his career record

Mayweather was so good he only need two rematches out of 49 fights

Hell Manny fought jmm 4x, Morales 3x, Barrera 2x(no need for that one), Bradley 2x...why?? because he was never as dominant as Mayweather...just face it

People overrate Barrera and Morales to pump up Pac-Man knowing damn well neither were at their peak when he fought them after wars with each other and others from the late 90s til their match ups

Anyway when looking at their overall resume, and who they defeated....Mayweather wins hands down

          December 26, 2015:

"In between the years 1989 and 2003, with the exception of Sugar Ray Leonard, Jones was the most gifted fighter/boxer I've seen since Muhammad Ali. Roy could do it all, box, punch with both hands, put punches together in blinding succession to the head and body and he was impossible to touch with a clean shot.

When fans even attempt to compare Floyd Mayweather to Roy Jones from a skill and talent vantage point, it's a joke. Roy did everything better than Floyd but pick and choose his opposition. He beat Bernard Hopkins and James Toney, two first ballot hall of famers and all-time greats when they were in their prime, and in 24 rounds against them, maybe he lost five. Mayweather doesn't own a single win on his record that equals Jones beating Hopkins let alone both he and Toney. And to think Roy dominated a quality heavyweight like Ruiz, who went 1-1-1 in three consecutive bouts with Evander Holyfield, and who was 50 pounds heavier than any other opponent Jones ever fought to capture a piece of the heavyweight title....was a career defining accomplishment"

My apologies for the hater comment. I thought you were being a smart a**. I would say start at 2000. That year he fought Augustus and then went on to the Corrales fight a year later and then so on.

I suppose the fallout will continue !

Roach made a small comment and people have made a mountain out of it !

Has Roach lamented about his fighter coming in with one arm??? Losing valuable time in training???

I don't believe in praising lies or living a lie or or saying anything that contradicts truth

            Therefore

When I have seen and read the lies from the Mayweather clan over the past ten years and see how they wormed Jr the the muck to come out on top I CANNOT PRAISE IT !!

I mean come on !!! After a few weeks we read about the drug scandal washing out something using lactate ringers illegally but was he was FORGIVEN????!!!!

And PAC wasn't even allowed a shot to help his shoulder when the underworld of Mayweather and paid off officials KNEW about the shoulder all along !!!

I will Never give Mayweather his due!

I will say he could have been great but he chose the route cowards take. He carried the grooming process to his last fight. He never stepped out or demanded to fight threats !!!

You can NEVER say that about Ali !
I totally disagree with Ali's religion but as a fighter he is the epitome of a great fighter, as in the language of Larry Holmes: If you want to get "tecnal" bout it , jr couldn't carry Ali's jock strap!

Then please explain to me the situation with the past three lineal champions of that division and their approach to facing him....or rather the common denominator in publicly stating "we'll see..." Yet he's all hype but all three of those guys are considered top ten fighters at the time he was posed to them in question to facing him.

This one of my favorite criticisms from Nacho:

"I celebrate that he's gone from boxing because people will be able to see something different, something much more spectacular in boxing. He was a very skilful fighter but he was abusing [his skill with the way he fought].

"You have to give him credit because it's no small accomplishment, to face so many fighters and remain undefeated. He was criticised for his style on many occasions because he had everything necessary to do more for the people but instead he defended himself with an intelligent and unspectacular manner."

Should Floyd have fought in an "unintelligent and spectacular manner?" How did that work out for Manny in the last Marquez fight?

Floyd certainly has a case for being considered the best of this era but if its based simply on his record then it doesnt hold any water. First off he clearly lost to Jose Luis Castillo, but he did avenge that fight. Second there are other fighters who retired undefeated like Joe Mesi and even Edwin Valero (yes I know he died) so records are important but I wish more fighters would worry less about that and more about who they are fighting and at what point in their career they are fighting them. I fear that Mayweather set a standard of avoiding fights when they were important and picking those names up on his resume later so the history books will only show all these great names and no defeats. Definitely smart move, but dont play into it and feed into it by calling him the best of this era based on his record or other fighters will mimick that strategy.

Even if he fought the last three lineal champs I'm not sure how that wouldve ade him great. Martinez was shot to pieces, cotto is past it and needs a cw just to fight at mw and beating canelo doesn't automatically make you great.....add it to the fact that mw is bum-heaven I don't see how he could've achieved greatness there....he needs to move up or move down to do that.
