So 300K is the current jackpot for winning the "Andre Ward Sweepstakes" these days? LOL, sounds like a crappy sweepstakes then.

I thought it was also pretty funny how the article tries to describe Periban as a "former SMW" boxer. Yeah right, 7 of his last 8 fights have all been at 168.

When you're a fighter of that caliber, you should be honored to take home 300k.

I don't understand why Ward is insisting on fighting guys who would give him less work than he'd get in the gym: Periban, Brand, Murdock, Dunn.

Ward turned down Shabranskyy, but Vasily Lepikhin or Maxim Vlasov would be acceptable as would Chilemba.

A fighter who has a mando title shot against the LHW champ? I don't think so, Ward has done nothing at 175, Barerra should tell him to go take a hike or pay him 500K. What is Ward going to do besides focus on a 168 pounder to fight at 175? All that is going to do is save Ward a few bucks while further tainting his rep and status.

No name guys who fight for PBC get more than this routinely, so Jay-Z now has to pay more since the bar has been raised. Just one of the byproducts of living in a free market economy, you pay what the market will bare.

              Beat me to it.

Isn't Ward moving to 175? And wasn't Periban last seen at 168?

Would Kovalev feel honoured to be offered $300,000 to defend his titles against Ward?

Because the way things stand now, after Andre's financial requirements are met, there wouldn't be much more than that left over for him.

Neither Kovalev nor Ward have a fan base, so where is the money going to come from to fund this mega fight, if Ward ever decides he's ready for it?

Right. It isn't too hard to find decent opponents at 175.

Chilemba would have been the perfect opponent for Ward, but he wasted his time trying to get a fight with GGG. And I don't even think Chilemba is ready to fight Ward in March. The best opponents for Ward from what I can tell is either Juergen Braehmer, Andrzej Fonfara, Felix Valera, or Thomas Oosthuizen.
